A sad little 2.15 miles in 20 minutes even, at which point the little one wokr up and demanded me.

Per the schedule it was only supposed to be a rest day anyway but I was hoping to get in a 3 miler from later this week as we're going away this weekend and I'm going to try to get most of my runs in before we go.

Take care out there, people. It's WINDY in Massachusetts today.

You got your day and week started well, anyway, ellen.

It's windy here again today too, so windy some wildfires started in the next county. Seems like this time of year is the windiest. I'm planning on 8 miles outside later this afternoon. Quads still sore and I can already imagine how clunky I will feel! Stupid weights.

Good morning everyone. I have 5 miles scheduled for today. This week is a semi rest week, which will be good as I have been increasing the miles every week this year. Next week I will be back to normal mileage and on to serious training for my first race of the year.

Brian-- Enjoy the 9.5 mile tempo run.
Richard-- Nice job on the workout.
Alex-- Stay warm. I can send some of the weather here your way. That should help a bit.
Dave-- That is a pretty good 800 repeat you did this morning. For me an average around 3:00 would be awesome.
Ellen-- Have a great morning. I hope the kids let you get your running done this week.

Have a great morning everyone.

At least ou got started early on the week Ellen.

Fight through it SGH, hopefully it won't be as windy as you think.

Sounds like fun 4bm.

Great workout Dave, some nice times.

Watch yourself out there Alex. As much more fun it is to run outside thatn on the mill, I'm with Richard about staying inside, the wind turns me into a wuss.

Hope your tempo's going well Brian.

Crusing out there Loopy, nice work.

Enjoy the rest Kfuller.

Uninteresting weekend for me. 9 on Saturday, 11 on Sunday. I did end up buying 3 pairs of my usual shoe at the mall this weekend because I had a gift certificate I had forgotten about. I've been running the same model for a few years so I'm starting to get paranoid about Nike not making it anymore and I'm thinking about stockpiling them. (I made a remark while I was buying them to my wife that I'm going to end up like Elaine from Seinfeld with the "Sponges" deciding if my run is Xcellerator TR worthy)

Hope everyone's runs go well.

I figure if I'm going to be injured and not working out at all, it might as well be this week. Like Alex, we're in the negatives in temp (-1) and wind chill (-12) right now. Yikes.

Back is still hurting, although now my leg seems to be crying more than the back. I'm just glad I don't have any sort of physical labor job, so at least I can still bring home some $$

Amen Brother!

Hope the back gets better soon. Remember I was in your shoes this time last year. It will get better, I still need to send you the name of that book I have that really helped me. I still use the techniques to help prevent any injury.

Hey everyone. I missed most of last week. My computer at home caught a virus, then somehow I think I got it late last week myself. Some sort of stomach bug that kept me from wanting to attempt a run. I am still not quite right. I may try the treadmill this evening. Kind of a bummer, I was just about ready to try some short tempo runs. THis will set me back a week.

I haven't had a chance to catch up on last weeks posts. Hope everyone is doing well!

Nice going out there everyone. Looks like every single person out there is getting more mileage than me right now.

($%*^#(*$^*(

When I talked to my coach yesterday he agreed that I should take off until Wednesday, making it a full week off from running. He said I should be completely pain free on Wednesday--so the plan is to do 2 more days of the elliptical ONLY--and then on Wednesday start running again, adding in the elliptical that night. As I said before, I'm going to add at least 3 to 4 days of it back into my regular routine.

My coach also said that if my legs are up to it this weekend, we have plans to run an extremely difficult, hilly route this Saturday morning with the team, should be around 16 miles, a little more.

Gawd, I feel so blah. Last week I only ran 16.83 miles, and this week it's looking like I'll get about 52 or so. !!! That's nothing for me. I can't wait for next week to get here.

Joggernut- sounds like you've got what I got early this month. It'll go away as quickly as it came, and the treadmill's a great idea in case you need to bag your run.

Dave- you should post the name of that book here so everyone can benefit from it.

I feel for you Tonya, not running really kills you when you've been doing great consistent mileage. The bright side is, you're gonna come back with a vengance once you're all rested and healed up.

Same for you Nirvy.

Not really sure what's on the agenda tonight. I've decided to start varying them a little bit, so I get some longer runs in and some easier runs instead of doing 10 every day. I'll probably settle into a pattern where I do something like 7 one day, 13 the next so I still average 10 a day. Just not sure if tonight will be the easy day or the longer day...

Morning all;

Today, I'm planning to get back in the saddle with an easy 5 miler. Looks like it'll be the TM or indoor track. Traveling back to Chicago last night was a 70F difference temperature shock...

The official results of my race are still not posted but I think I was 12th OA; not sure about division place yet

Edit: Results just posted:

Time: 1:28:03
OA - 12/345
Div - 4/23

Turns out, the guy in front of me was in my division so pushed me out of the medals. I ran him down but couldn't out kick him... ahhhh!!!!!! Next time!

Hawk - great job on the 12k race over the weekend!
Nirvana - hope the back heals up... I can't imagine what the pain is like. I'm sure the dreaded meds will speed recovery though.
Loopy - I guess you're living up to your user name Great running!
Ellen - every little counts...
Joggernut - face masks and hand sanitizer at your house?
Kevin - sounds like a well deserved easy week.
Tonya - The first group run sounds like fun. I'm sure you'll make a stunning debut after the rest.
Richard - enjoy the double
Dave - nice speedwork... I wish I could do 800s that fast.
Mailbox - enjoy the new shoes...
Alex - bundle up... you're braver that me...
Brain - hope the tempo run went as planned.
4boysmon - enjoy the rest day
SGH - have a good run later.
