Ah, the start of a new week. No run for me yet today. Want to wait till it warms up a bit. :) DW and I are going to our first baseball game of the season tonight. The season is over in a few games but it's just been to hot to go sit in the sun (and may be the same tonight). Hope to get tickets in the shaded area. We have a AA baseball team associated with the Houston Astros.

Hope you missed most of the storm Mike.

Thinking of Mike......I'm sure he'll check in when the power comes back on.

Enjoy the ball game Ks.....I've seen the Astros beat the "world champion" Giants on the TV 4 times (out of 7 games) in the last 10 days. I try being a loyal Dodger fan, but the Giants are what I get on the satellite here. Dish network doesn't have MLB season ticket anymore and I don't care for AL baseball, so it's teh Giants or nuttin. At least they have some really good announcers.

Rest day for me....maybe some firewood x-training later.

Hey Gang!

Happy Birthday, H. Feat!

All's well in my corner of the world. Just been a very busy Monday with meetings, a presentation and grumpy clients. Yesterday's weather wasn't too bad just west of Boston. I'd guess 25-35 mph sustained winds, with a few gusts aproaching 50. I'm not sure how much rain we got, but it did come down heavy for about an hour. The rest of the time it was light to moderate. No flooding near me. Lots of twigs, leaves, some branches down, is all.

I actually went out for a 3 mile recovery run yesterday before it got too windy. No traffic to worry about, just some rain.

Today I nailed my 4 mile tempo: 2 miles w/u (9:05, 8:26), then 7:48, 7:38, 7:41, 7:36. Maybe a little too fast for the intended purpose, but it was fun.

Nice racing this w/e, rip! I was nervous reading about your warmup.

Enjoy yourself at the game, ks! I've got Sox tickets for Fri. We're playing some team called Rangers from Texas.

Glad Irene missed you Mike..... I've some co-workers in NJ that got hit pretty hard from what I hear.

Hi Johnny! DH did indeed catch a couple of nice trout on his new bamboo fly rod, but I haven't seen the pics yet. Whole area is artificial lures only, catch and release.

6.3 slow miles after work, starting with another measurement of the 5K course I'm planning for our United Way race in a month. The course starts at our office building and within a quarter mile, drops down a wooded winding road into a ravine, where we'll pick up a new bike path that winds along the Don River for a lovely 1.5K out-and-back section. To my shock when I got almost to my turn around point, there was a car poking along in the same direction I was going. At first I thought it might be park staff, as there was still path construction beyond where my turn around is going to be. But no, it was an old geezer who saw an open gate into the path, didn't see the "No mechanized vehicles" sign and thought "this looks drive-able", He was about to try to cross the last foot bridge before the construction, so I stopped him and got him turned around. He went off to explore the remainder of the path on foot, while I hoofed it back out of the park, making sure I beat him back to the main road. Sheesh...and we wonder why those old guys wind up going the wrong way on the freeway ramps!?!

5 EZ miles for me tonight. Decided to reduce it from planned 6 because I was awakened at 3 am with a migraine - felt better about 10:30 this morning; but those tire me out.

The day got better, the run was pleasant, and I got some great birthday gifts; so it's all good.

What a great day to pop in and see what you all are up to. Have a great birthday Happy Feat!! lovely cake too!

I think it's been around a week or so since I last checked in, so per usual, I'm behind the times and not sure what's going on. Although sometimes even when I'm here regularly I don't really know what is going on

back to work today after 5 days off. Last Thursday we took our son and two of his friends down to Redding, CA (3 hr drive) to Waterworks Park. We all had a great day just playing in the water. Although I felt a bit "motion sick" when I went to bed that night and still felt like I was bobbing around in water. hate that feeling. Did a couple days worth of projects around the house over the weekend and then went to another water slide park yesterday with my son and one of his friends. This one is much smaller and local (Ashland).

Hard to believe school is starting up for us next week. DS will be starting middle school next Tuesday.

I haven't been running much and just decided that for August I didn't care what I did or didn't do as far as running goes. I've decided that I'm not going to do any more races this year - not the inaugural HM next month, not the Humboldt Redwoods HM the following month, nor our local GP HM at the end of October. Although I might volunteer at it instead. I'll increase my running in September and throughout the remainder of the year though.

Hope you all are having a great Tuesday! Have fun at the game KS!
