Good morning all.

Richard - Up and at it early this mroning.

me - i just finished up a 1.5 mile time trial. I showed some improvement once again. I went from 8:55 to 8:44 (avg pace 5:50); right at a 2% improvement. It is still slower than I should be capable of running 1.5 miles. I should be able to get it down to a 5:40 pace or better.

Have a great day all.

Hawk - Just read your report from yesteday. Congratulation on you smoking hot PR. I knew you had it in you. After running with you last October at ATM, it doesn't surprise me that you ran a 66:37 on a tough course.

I seem to run faster on rolling hill type course than straight out flat courses.

Way to go on the swim, Richard, and TT, Dave.

6 miles recovery planned for me after yesterday's hilly Half. There's an RR up if anyone cares to read. I can tell I will be stiff and slow, but I'm looking forward to working out the kinks in almost 60 degrees on my favorite path. Just a couple weeks ago the area was affected by wildfires and I haven't been there since, so will be interested to see if it looks different.

Good workouts to all!

Good morning all!
Great job on the time trial Dave.
Congrats on the huge PR CMJ!
Great job in the half SGH -- I enjoyed the report.

Did a recovery run this morning: 5 miles at 8:00 pace. Will probably take it pretty easy this week -- planning to do a 10 mile race this coming weekend -- hope to see you there, Apple...

Dan--what's up with your dog?

Looks like some good running (and swimming!!!) going on this morning.

Rest day for me. Yes, it's Monday. I REST on Monday. Hoping to take the kids/dogs for a walk this afternoon. The pyrenees loves to go walkies, but then ends up limping later in the day. Sucks when dogs get old.

He's actually my ex's dog but stays with me frequently and I adore him. He's a 140 Rottie that blew out his right rear cruciate ligament. Complete tear. Not unusual for Rotties. It's an 8 week recovery with NO walking unsupported. I have a a sling that goes under his stomach in front of his rear legs. Other than walking with that he's in a small pen the rest of the time. Poor guy!

Dan - The knee is coming along alright. It could be better but I guess it is something I will deal with for now. On the inside fo the knee it feels as though something (two ligaments??) get crossed and it will hurt until they pop back in place. I haven't see the orthopedic yet. It is not like it is a continuous problem, only sparadically does it occur. More during speed session than anything.

Morning;

I was catching up on the Sunday posts... awesome race Hawk and congratulations on the PR!; I just knew you were sandbagging! Your attitude to training and subsequent race performance is very inspiring, especially as I'm fast approaching the masters myself!

Today, I'm planning on at least a 5 miler despite that fact that my legs are complaining from being on a plane for 15hrs yesterday. This week I'll be getting my speedwork going again... should be entertaining.

Have a good one!

Hey everyone,

Good rest day yesterday - still a bit sore from my speed week. Today was an easy 3 miler with 6x100 Striders mixed in...supposed to be the easiest run of the week, but I'm still kind of stiff!

I've got a question for you all...Tomorrow is a big workout, but I need some help understanding it: I'm supposed to run:
1 warmup mile
2 miles at marathon goal pace (9:00)
2x2 miles at tempo pace (8:36)
3 miles at marathon goal pace

My question is what the recovery time should be on the 2x2 tempo. My plan usually tells me what the recovery time should be, but it doesn't on this one...last week we ran 4 miles at Tempo with a 1:00 recovery after each mile...so anyways, any insight would be great!

Asics: enjoy the speed week...I had my first one ever last week - pretty fun
Richard: good job in the fishbowl
Dan: Good job on the core workout...I should be doing that as well...but I haven't been to the gym in a month!
4bm: enjoy the rest!
Kevin: week one is always exciting! What's your target again?
Loopy: I can't wait until 8:00 is my recovery pace!!!
Alex: Enjoy the great outdoors!
Sistergoldenhair: looking forward to reading your report!
Dave: what was the time trial for? Good job!

Ok, everyone else...have great runs!

btw...here is a picture of LOOMIS and I at Cannon Beach on Saturday - it was his first trip to the beach! He's now 37.5 pounds and 5 months old on Wednesday! Let's see if I can figure out how to post a picture...

Good morning all,

Thanks so much to all for the comments about yesterday's race. I still can't believe it myself. I mean, I knew I could break 70:00 on the right day, but to blow it away by that much...wow. Now, I've got to start adjusting a lot of my time goals. I know, nice problem to have.

Meanwhile, let's see if this works...no promises, but here's a picture from yesterday! If not, try the link below.

http://www.mcrrcphotos.com/gallery/4...066_Zhhqs-A-LB

Off day for me today. My legs don't feel too bad after the race yesterday but I am definitely sleepy today. But I can't wait to get back at it tomorrow.

Brian - on the recovery, if it's just short, like 1:00 or so, drop it way down to a jog. Good luck, sounds like a great workout.

RichardC - nice job on the swim. I'm pretty sure I can't swim that fast.

Dan - good luck with the workout. I bet that sling makes the dog nuts!

SGH - I look forward to reading your race report. Haven't yet but I will.

Dave - I think you can definitely get to 5:40/mile pace for 1.5, esp. at race time when you're properly tapered. It will be a snap for you.

Loopy - nice run this morning

Alex - glad to hear you'll get outside today. Have a great run.

Back later to catch up on everyone...

Hi Gang.
I was s-o-o-o tempted to continue the momentum I had built up after yesterday's run. But I felt a little stiff after rising and figured a rest day might be in order. I had quietly been out there 10 days in a row, even though many of those earlier efforts were suck.
Hawk, I confess I haven't read your report yet and probably won't get to until tonight. But it's clear that you smashed the expectations. I'm real happy for you.

Good runs, all
