Morning Kickstars,

Slept in this morning as weather was just dreary (for us). 50 degrees, wet, and strong N winds. Will run on an extended lunch. Now it's 57 and partly sunny with 15 mph N winds. Have a meeting tonight so gotta get it done. 5-7 easy miles. Suppose to do a tough workout tomorrow so................

RIP - I have no doubts you can run a sub 3 on the right course, weather, and day. I think I'm close and you're in better shape than I am.

I posted on my FB page a video of a man who lives (I think NYC) who does 700 pushups a day plus his dips, and pull ups. He is 60 years old and has the body of a 20-30 year old. Amazing. I don't want muscles like he has but the will power and the mind; well that's cool.

Hello Ks.....700 pushups a day...only 680 ahead of me ....I'm also over 60 years old......and have the body of a 70 year old and the mind of a 10 year old......probably not much hope here.

4 hilly miles this afternoon.....been running after lunch lately, because it's just too cold in the morning anymore. Changed from my usual routes through the woods behind my property to loops on the gravel road at the end of my street. Gravel road is a 1.6 mile loop with 250 feet of gain in 0.8 miles and 250 feet of loss in the other 0.8 miles. In the 3 weeks I've been running this exclusively, I'm starting to notice it's becoming a little easier. My old route is up to the top of the ridge and then a 1.5 mile flat loop on the ridgetop. Funny how changing things up make a difference.

Good luck on your sub 3 hour quest rip....

On another note: if anyone's waiting on me to start the monthly milage summary, I've decided not to bother. Only 4 people including myself posted milage last month, down from 7 the month before and 10 the month before that...should anyone else want to do it, have at it. If not, there's always running ahead.

Hi Johnny and KS

I'm really on the fence about running a marathon which is why I still haven't done one yet. I look on Marathonguide every so often but always find an excuse why each particular marathon wouldn't work for me. I think I'm waiting to get in a little better shape so I have a better chance to reach my goal and trail races are just so much more fun.

As for the monthly mileage, I had my best month since last winter. I only ran 10 days but averaged over 15 miles on those days to end the month with 150.67.

Finally felt a little sproink today on the eliptical so I hit it pretty hard the whole hour. Heartrate got up to 96% at the end.

Hi TW You snuck in while I was composing.

Hi guys!

How about a 50K instead of a marathon, Rip? Better terrain.

Don't worry about the monthly summary, Johnny. I'll just continue using the calendar at work to finish logging the year's efforts, then maybe switch to the RA log, if I can remember to complete it.

Hi KS and TW!

Wanted to do a slightly longer than normal weekday run, so held off until the end of the day. Couldn't face 6+ miles on the belt to nowhere, so went out in the 5°C rain . Had a marvellous run, complete with some sproink for 6.6 miles. Must remember to take a headlamp and tail light for these afternoon runs... it was dark by the time I was done.

Champion marathoner co-worker just lent me Kara Goucher's book. Gonna go have a gander.

6 miles for me tonight without any problem. Saturday's 10 went well also. Hopefully last week's problems are over with. This will be another cutback week for me since I can't run Thursday due to getting a haircut before I shave my head in aggravation. Probably for the best anyway, running less this week that is; For some reason, I need to regroup.

What's the name of the book, Heme? Let me know if you think it's a worthwhile read.

No worries about the monthly summary, Johnny - it was just for fun - for me anyway, to see how I stack up beside the rest of you.

Are you on RA, Johnny?

Rip....the new RW has a list of a dozen or so "fast" marathons....the one you mentioned for later this month in Jacksonville is on that list.

Speaking of haircuts HF, I got all mine chopped off a week ago.....and now my head's freezing....And to answer your question, I'm registered at RA, but only post here.

And thanks for not getting too p$$d off at me for bailing on the monthly, HF, rip, & heme. You guys were all that posted there anymore.

It's surprising how much your hair does keep your head warm, isn't it?

You always did a fun monthly tally complete with stats, Johnny. I'll miss that, but can see why you don't want to do it any more.

Is it just me or do they NEVER seem to vary the cover shot on RW??
