Howdy. Oof, I'm tired. I had trouble sleeping last night, which is never fun. Today is going to be a long day...

Fun: I'm only working two days this week (today and tomorrow)!

Not fun: I'm taking off Wednesday and Thursday for jury duty. Ugh.

Fun: Friday I'm taking off just for me.

Howdy Howdy all.

No fun here atm.

Not fun: Heading to DC for a business trip. I'm not really into these things, but it's only once a year. What I really dislike now, is having to board the dogs for said trip. Meh. I know they'll be fine, but I still don't particularly like it!

Prae - Goonie said it best about significant others opinions. Tonya and I only completely agree on things about 65% of the time, the other 35% I know when to keep my mouth shut.

morning peeps.

busy weekend. Again. Ran around getting last minute costume work done, then rehearsal all day yesterday...where I had my laptop so I could read award applications from my professional association which I've got to review and judge. However, my word program crashed and so I only got through 8 of the 18. They were due last night. Sigh. (in my defense, we only got a week to do them and I've not had any time. I planned the time yesterday...technology bit me in the a$$ tho)

I made the mistake of arranging to drop off my car this morning for servicing, so I had to get up over an hour early...in addition to the time change. I freaking HATE the time change.

Maria...apparently BU is playing your Jayhawks in basketball this weekend?

(((((((((((((((((Missy)))))))))))))))))) I'm glad you've gotten good news from some of your friends, good thoughts that the others will be fine as well.

Prae, what are you doing for paint? An interesting color? Also, for your arches, it's nice to keep the interior of them your trim color or ceiling white, otherwise you lose them visually.

How is it only 9:30???? This is going to be one long-azz day.

Missy - I hope you hear from the rest of your friends/family soon!! And hooray for 10 hours of sleep - you must feel like a new woman.

I want to hear about Prae's project too. Next time, leave the neighbors out of it and let us help!

(((Missy))) I hope you get good news about your loved ones soon.

Add me to the sleepy ones. I got my usual amount of sleep (which is to say, not quite enough, but survivable) but of course my body clock is slightly off from the time change so getting up was still a bit of a challenge this a.m. Oh well, I'm in and I haven't blown anything up yet, so it must be ok.

Prae- since taste is highly individual, it's always tricky to ask someone else's opinion. If you like your choice, then roll with it and neighbor-be-damned.

The filmmaker who won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short film is coming to one of the schools in my district (I work for the district, remember) for a special screening. We found out about it last Monday, and it's today. It's been a HUGE amount of work to pull this off in so short a timeframe, but I love this stuff. And I get to see an Oscar!!!

One of my old grammar/high school friends (my first real crush, as a matter of fact, and our grandmothers were best friends) was just on the Today show. He and his family are living in Sendai, Japan...they are safe, but dealing with some pretty devastating surroundings.

Hey all. Long time, no...post! Been a crazy few weeks. Nothing bad, just colds (for all of us), a vacay (Disney), and life in general. But all is well. Colin is a champ, eating like a linebacker and getting bigger every day. Did well on his first trip, slept on the plane up and down, didn't freak when he saw Mickey, slept really well. Aiden is nursing a bad cold, been about 2 weeks now, but never once complained or whined, what a great kid!

I go back to work in 2 weeks and I am dreading it, love being home with my family. But I will enjoy seeing my friends again. I have been feeling really disconnected and it has been kind of bad at times. But enough about that, I have also had the opportunity to meet some really great new people in a new playgroup I found so that's nice.

Hugs and prayers and gropes and all that good stuff to anyone who needs and wants them. I promise to be around more often my friends!

Good morning everyone. I had an exciting day on Saturday. I traded in my faithful car of 14 years for a brand new Ford Escape. I love it! It is a dark metallic gray color. I joked with my co-workers that after living for 14 years without power windows, cruise control and the last 3 years without a working CD player that I won't know how to act! LOL Of course those are just extras but are nice just the same.

I was really blown away by the shopping experience. I had resigned myself to get a small truck thinking they would be the least expensive despite the fact I really wanted an Escape or Xterra. However the Xterra was way out of my range on price. Then the small Nissan Frontier trucks look sweet to me but it was higher than I wanted to pay for a small truck. The Frontier is such a popular model there are few used trucks available in this area. So we next went to the Ford dealer. I looked at the ever popular F-150 and those were a little too steep for me. Somewhat dejected I looked at the small line of Ranger trucks. I owned one from 1987 until 1997 and were familiar with them. I had to do a double take when I saw their sticker price. As I was about ready to admit defeat I saw a few Escapes. I knew it was not as big as an Xterra but thought the price would be comperable. To my amazement the Escape was the lowest price vehicle that I had seen all morning and it was the one that I had really wanted! It was just in my price range and the rest is history. This morning I went and got my new tag (OUCH! LOL) and called the insurance company. I am now officially street legal again.

I thank God for this blessing. Normally I try to take good care of my cars and they last me a long time (10 years and then 14 years). I hope this one will serve me for many years to come.

I just heard from my mechanic...only $55. Nice. Although there's a loose wire somewhere in my dash and it's caused my clock to go out. He told me it would cost $150 in labor (they'd have to pull out the radio, etc to get in there) and did I really want them to do it? Um, no.

I had lunch with my running partner on Saturday - she needed to kill a few hours while her daughter was at a birthday party in a neighboring town, so I tagged along. We had a leisurely ladies lunch complete with good food, good wine and lots of laughs - we were there 2 hours! We had the most wonderful appetizer, and I wanted to share it with you. So yummy!

It was a hummus plate with homemade hummus, roasted red peppers and caramelized onions all drizzled with a luscious reduced balsamic glaze. Served with warm pita bread triangles for dipping.

I wanted to lick the plate! That along with my glass of red wine and I was in heaven.

I think I'm going to re-create it for dinner tonight, but I'm going to add more grilled veggies. Maybe some portobella mushrooms, zuchini or eggplant. Or all 3.

/drool
