Missed me by "THAT" much...

<p>So it's the oby's birthday(s) today and I'm in Victoria visiting one of them.  The missus is in Montreal.  I was talking to her while walking along a busy street (Shelburne) near the University and was more than half way across the unsigned intersection of a residential side street when there's a crash JUST behind me.  I jump out of the way of a motorcycle that is in the air and heading for me.  Bike hits the ground right where I had been standing, but I'm fine.</p>

<p>Kid lying on the ground had fallen off the cycle when it ht a car that was turning on to the side street across traffic.  I have first aid responders training and handed someone my phone to  call 911.  Kid looked okay but was in shock.  Could feel his fingers and toes and move them.  Pain in wrist and arm, but from a pat check no broken bones or ribs.  Cops got there in less than 3 minutes after the call was made, ambulance a bit later. </p>

<p>Cop thanks me, asks me if I'd seen anything and then tells me I'm free to go.  So I do and call my wife back. </p>

<p>"Hi... I'm fine."  But I'm not.  I tell her about it and then proceed to finish my errands and come back the same way about 20 minutes later to see the kid up with an ice pack on his arm and the driver of the car standing together - laughing - as the bike is put on a tow truck.</p>

<p>The car was turning on to the residential street, crossing traffic behind me, when a person ran out into the intersection behind me.  Car stops, motorcycle hits car, kid falls off onto hood and then onto ground, bike flies.</p>

<p>Not sure who is at fault, but the kid says that now he has a good excuse to give the professor for being late handing in his paper. </p>
