LOL!!! Seriously. I mean, if you're running 100 mpw, yes, you can probably eat pretty much anything. And yes, to each his/her own, but heck, the thought of McD food burps on a long run??? Noooooooooo......

This sounds like a potentially interesting challenge down the road

You get runners of similar ability, but they're restricted to a diet of their favorite fast food chain and are kept to the same training regimen (same number of miles and workouts per week.) One who knocks off the most time from the previous best wins some kind of prize.

Of course, it's not truly scientific, but would be fun to read about anyway.

some people are just genetically thin (Jerks! ) and their bodies can survive that type of abuse, doesn't mean it's a good idea or that they wouldn't do better on real food. If I tried that I'd probably gain 60 pounds and die of a heart attack in a week.

Two or three times over the years I've ended up doing a workout after eating lunch at McDonald's. Each time I have felt absolutely horrible during the workout, very very low energy. To the point that I honestly would have felt better if I'd simply skipped lunch entirely. Not sure what that's all about, but can't imagine marathon training on that food.
