If Oregon is #1, they have the Big Ten to thank for it. First they fatten up on Michigan, then hang around till Ohio State stumbles to an unranked team. Go Ducks!

Now to perform the dreaded annual task of calling my friend at Ohio State to make our annual bet on The Game. I still have to pay off last year's bet (a pound of espresso), but I'm hoping that by waiting till this year I can economize on shipping.

2500 yards in the pool, with 2x(10x50yd on 1:00 cycle). 45s/rep on the first set and 48/rep on the second. I'm tired.

I have been a slacker in the running department, if it clears I will do so after work.

I posted a link to a holiday maintenance campaign up there ^^ if anyone is interested. I got on the scale today and have not gained, although I need to lose maintaining would be better then gaining so I am in. Of course all you high mileage types can probably eat whatever you want. Anyway, it's not all about weight it's about doing other healthy things too and we need to find teamates to make teams of 3 so I need two peeps to be on my team. Any takers?

Hey KickStars
Tom, I'll keep that ankle/bike thing in mind for gym or mt bike.

The foot felt good enough to run a few miles. There was some discomfort increase until the foot warmed up at about 2.5 miles. I may try some more tomorrow if the day develops well.
My foot is on a all day sized bag of ice under my desk now.

3 miles, 30 min in the gym,
feeling good, now that I've had my running fix
I got released from my corporate retreat a day early. Woohoo! Today's activities involved mostly the sales division, and since I'm in operations it didn't really pertain. Or maybe the company President let me go because he got tired of watching me walk around the meeting room all day (I can't sit still longer than about 45 mins). I even did some stretching and crunches during the meetings. If I could do a proper side plank, I might have done some of those too.

I need to call our veterinarian today and see about getting an appointment for our oldest cat Becky. She's 16 years old, and has really taken a turn for the worst. She is having a very difficult time walking, and is most likely suffering from a nerve disorder. What's really hard on me is that Becky was my mom's cat, and when she died in 1994, I adopted her. So there has always been that connection there with my mom.

I really hope to get a 5 mile run this afternoon...I think I'll need it.

Oregon is ranked the dreaded #2 in the country (all the #2's start losing), and they're playing at mc's Arizona on Thursday. I'm already nervous.

Good morning.

Millbuddy, you really are an early bird. Thanks for making me look bad <yawn>.

Hally, where are you posting links? Up where?

49 degrees in Tucson? I might have to come down for that HM afterall.

It's only 9:12 and my workout plans are already crumbling. Looks like I will miss both yoga and pilates today. Drat!

Divechief saved my bacon from boredom last night and chatted with me in wiki. I was stuck at the reference desk and had nothing to do after whipping through all my real work.

At the urging of my running club friends, I've been considering this 30k next June. Take a look if you have a minute: http://www.bighorntrailrun.com/30K/ I'll have to be quick about it though as it always fills up.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I wouldn't call myself a high mileage runner, but I can gain weight while running 50-60 mpw. I have to be careful. I consider it part of my training.

Hey there. Ran 8 today, with 4 at tempo (3.7 or so of that with a rock stuck in the heel of my right shoe .... I, of course, didn't have the sense to just stop and remove it ) Thought I was going to die once or twice, but managed to make it through. I'm glad it's 16 weeks to the race and not 6.
Have a good one .... hope that you all get a chance to enjoy some nice fall weather today.

hup

..... and hey, if there's a rock stuck in the sole your shoe, do stop and take it out, for goodness' sake!

The country has truly gone to Hades in a handbasket since I left. What next? Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria... I just don't know.

Will it put the world to rights if I go for a lunchtime run in the bright November sunshine?

(Mustang Sally meditates upon the phrase, "Bright November Sunshine" and decides that the world is truly coming to an end).

Looks like me and Tamster are going to be on a team with Tim Looney unless he says no. Feel free to create some more though, it sounds like fun. Get points for doing stuff like wearing seat belt. Since it's 1: a Law and 2: a good way to keep from going through the windshield that one is a no brainer

choovie, that looks like a great race, maybe a bit of a quad killer. I suspect that elevation profile is idealized.

slowly, slowly working back to mileage needed to complete that marathon beast...ran 10 soggy, slow miles this am in the rain/drizzle-fortunately it wasn't too cold (40's)-still pretty ucky overall. I did resemble the proverbial 'drowned rat' at the end, but it's in the books-easy pace sure isn't easy anymore. Very tough to hold 8:15's...sigh.

DS2, however, ran his first Jr Olympics CC race and came in 13th OA (2nd of 5 in scoring) and ran a huge negative split race that included a big hill in the second part of the 3K race. Time=13:37 unofficially. Team placed 3rd in his division-Bantam Boys=10yo's and younger. So next weekend we're off to NY for regionals!

MC is complaining about his IRC AND talking smack about our Ducks grrrrrrrr.

My Vikes lost . . . actually they never even showed up to their game this weekend but my Seahawks won - of course the 49'ers didn't show up to their game .

Hally - I'll have to take more time to read through the rules of the Maintain Campaign - we seriously get points for wearing a seatbelt? That should be a given, since it's the LAW! LOL This will be good to keep me on track during this holiday/birthday season. Between Nov and Dec, we have 5 birthdays in our family. I typically gain weight AND go broke. Maybe this year I can rejoice in only going broke .

I will head to the gym during my lunch break and get in 3-4 miles.

and Hup - I'm chuckling at running with that huge boulder in your shoe! Seriously, stopping to take it out wouldn't have slowed down your time that much, but thanks for the lesson in the importance of digging rocks out of our tread. Nice hair by the way . sort of that Ryan Seacrest look.

dtoce...congrats to your son! He's a speedy one! Are the regionals at Van Courtland Park? I know some middle school girls that competed in the Jr. Olympics. Not sure how they did. Is there a website to check results?

Thanks, Gin. You are quite a speedy one too. I'm sure he's glad that you're not in his age group...ha.
this is the site, I think...results are not up yet...
The regionals are in Long Island, NY. They are being held at a place called
King's Park.

http://www.usatf.org/groups/Youth/pr...ber=5&sport=XC

Are you running Manchester? with Pink/Kim?
Ds2, DW and I are all running. (Ds1 would rather go to grandma's house early and play...)
