Morning to all,

65 degrees this morning and foggy. Suppose to have the cold front hit Wednesday night late. Just in time for the Thurs morning turkey chase race. JTWWLI

6 miles this morning at 7:15 pace.

? My last 5k was run just under 6 min avg pace. How close is a tempo run and a marathon pace? Are they the same. I plan to try to hold 7:15-7:20 for the marathon coming up. This morning felt pretty good about the pace but don't think I could hold it today in a race.

After DD got on the bus I decided to go running. No watch, no plan, just run. I took some streets I don't normally take. Saw some beautiful new homes being built. Went through the neighborhood where we used to live. Met my old next door neighbors new 12 week old puppy. A Schnoodle named Lester. Very cute!! After tearing myself away from him I continued on.

As I headed home I took a street I try to avoid because of it's big, long hill. Today I decided to climb. I coasted home and in the door about an hour or so later. I have no idea how far I went and I don't care. This run reminded me why I love this sport. One of the best yet!
Have a great Monday!

Just a little creaky after yesterday's tenner, but whistling down the hill on my bike in 37F woke me right up and got me moving. I  my SushiToque.

I'm hoping it stays cool this week, because my fridge is too small to hold everything I'm prepping for Saturday's Delayed American Thanksgiving in Canada. I plan on brining Mr. Turkey in the garden shed, where I think I'll also hold the potatoes, once peeled and soaking in water.

Swimming and yoga this evening. That should get the kinks out.

Gin, nice run.

It's a rest day for me. I did about 30 mins of stretching and some adductor/abductor exercises. I wish I understood why I've got this piriformis problem. I've had left butt pain for...well, just about forever. But now it's starting to affect my right side, too. I went to the ART guy last week. He didn't have any solid answers on "why" and I'm not sure that he can fix it. I'll reserve judgement for a couple more visits, though.

Have a good Monday, all.

Have you had a chiro look at your hips and lower back? Could they be out? My backside bugs me when my SI joint hypermobilizes itself.

I was looking for a Monday thread earlier and there was none...

This morning another 2000 yds with O.
5x100 with short rest in the middle of it.
1:45 / 1:50 / 1:55 / 1:55 / 1:55

BTW, has anyone had an ITB pain up on the outside of the hip? I think
that's what it is. Seems odd, with the every other day running and no
real serious training. I did run 10M a couple of times. But it hurts
there and I've never had ITB issues before.

Just curious if we have any local opinions in here,

MS, thanks for the tip. I've been neglecting going to my chiro for at least a month. I will make an appt. to see him; he's usually pretty good at adjusting my SI joint, which does go out sometimes (usually on the left). Flickery knee pain is my usual clue that I need my SI adjusted.

Nice, good for the soul run, Gin.

MS, aren't we gonna get any goose recipes?

RunIn, I can sympathize with the pain, but I hope it won't delay the RR.

Good morning. I was waiting for Millbot to put in an appearance. Looks like he slept in a bit today as his run wasn't until 0514. Tsk Tsk.

Gin - sounds like a great run for you. I'm sometimes envious of those who can just go run for the 'fun' of it.

JJJ - my race is 4.1 miles. They call it a 5K + 1 mile. Just to be different I guess. My best time is 25:20 and weather permitting I'd like to go under 25. Suppose to be cold and blustery here Thurs morning so we'll see.

(((healing))) to all that need it. Looks like several do.

off to buy a truck; I think?

Get out the foam roller. Do your planks, with slow and deliberate leg raises while on your side. This is easy to nip in the bud...

You're a troublemaker. But since you asked: Don't even bother wasting good steel shot on a goose that's been feeding on the salt chuck. It will taste like fish and not be very good. For yummy goose, you need to hunt over the prairies, where they'll have been gleaning the cornfields.

It is very, very difficult to balance cooking the breast and the rest of the bird properly without some part drying out, so I don't bother trying any more. I like to roast the skinned, boned breast with a marinade of pepper and mushrooms. I then slice and serve as for roast beef. The dark meat is either stewed and put in a pie or (I confess) converted to dog food.

Congratulations Ken on your long run PR this weekend!! That's awesome!

Hup - I find that I always need a white elephant gift for some type of party, so I would say that plastic owl might just come in handy for your friend Myron. Just beware if you go to any white elephant gift exchanges where he is present . . . . you might just end up with a plastic owl.

Who else from the masters group is participating in the maintain campaign besides me and Hally? runinbehind, you too right? Today starts it off. I think I'm getting it figured out how this works . . . . should be kind of fun and hopefully it'll keep me focused during this season of overindulgence. Since I plan on going to the gym during my lunch hour tomorrow, I'll weigh myself tomorrow and see where my starting point is. If I can not gain anything til the end of the year, I'll be happy. If I can ever lose these 5 lbs, I'll be even more happy!

Craig - my IT problems were on the outside of my knee. I didn't have hip pain at all. But I agree with Sal that using a foam roller along your entire ITband might be helpful. Even though I have not have IT pain for 15 months now (knock on wood), I still use my foam roller a few times a week - from my hip down to my knee.
