Rest day for me: I have Lactate Threshold testing tomorrow and am supposed to do that on rested legs. Oh, joy.

Off (again) to the vet today with Storm, who is deteriorating. So is her owner. It looks as if we won't be able to get her in for ultrasound until the end of the month, so the local guy wants to re-do X-rays (now he's looking for bone cancer ) and give her some pain meds. I'm totally disasterizing. I'm trying to nurture the spark of hope that she just has a busted ligament, but it's guttering.

MSally, so sorry about your doggie; it's horrible when they can't figure out what's wrong. I'm keeping fingers & toes crossed and the Riley dynamic duo (Truffle & Remy) are keeping paws crossed for a favorable diagnosis.

This morning I had pt and then I did 30 mins of weights at the gym. It felt really good & I seem to be making a tiny bit of progress.

Have a great weekend, all. They're predicting snow tonight - I hope it's not too bad, b/c I have the turkey trot on Sunday.

8.25 really easy miles this morning,8:34 pace.My partner said he felt tight this morning and I said "There is no reason for us to push,we aren't racing for a few months".So we just dawdled along and yapped the whole way...A lot of the world's problems would get solved if people just ran together...

KS - WTG on the "nice" 20, my 20's always endup trying to chew a leg off by the end.

Seems to be a coupla 8's going. Put me down for 8 too

Never did run yesterday, just a mental thing. Had nothing to do with foot or blowing snow at the end of a day.
Good Morning -

MS - sorry about Storm - keep positive thoughts!

Nice runs MB, MC, Lynden & JJJ.

KS - nice 20! I see you are slacking off since the VRAA thing is done

I ran Sunday and then in the afternoon, played a "friendly" soccer game with the coaches/parents against my son's travel team - mostly 6th graders. I was the token mom and didn't want to embarass my son, so I tried really hard. Unfortunately, I was really sore the next couple of days! So not a lot of running for me this week.

Today I went for a 10 miler . . . a couple times at the beginning, I was thinking of cutting it short but trudged on. I was reflecting on how crappy my runs have, for the most part, been since running Hartford. After 3 miles, before I knew it, I had tripped and feel flat out. I came down hard on my right knee - great - the side I'm having problems with since Hartford - but my pants did not rip at least . . . They recently painted black goop on all the cracks in the road and left some black globs - this one was pretty big and at least 3/4 inch off the ground and I must not have lifted my foot up enough or noticed it. I debated, continue or quit. I continued and finished the 10. Now my knee is pretty sore - nice lump on it with a deep burn in the top corner. I'm sure the shower and soap will feel good and not sting.

Hope all your runs good better today!

Guess I'll take the day off.

Pink, some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. Very sorry to hear about your fall. A big atta girl to you for finishing the run after that. Lots of nice Friday runs. I like Gordon's comment about world problems being solved via running. Mustang, my running pal just did a lactate test for running. She also did one for biking last spring since she is a triathlete. Pretty interesting stuff. So now we'll be doing our long runs based on her lactate test results since I have no idea what my own balance point is. This could be interesting.

Sorry about the recent pet news everyone. As a long time cat owner I know where you are.

Pink hope your knee heals well.

I continue to be under the weather. No runs since Sunday. I am determined to get out Saturday for about three miles and still run my half on Sunday.

Anyone want to team up for the VRAA Maintain campaign. The teams are three people details are over at the VRAA Forum.

Pink....be careful out there. Hope the knee is just a little scraped. Last winter I was doing a long run and failed to properly negotiate a curb. I tumbled and scraped off some hide in way too many areas. I had to hobble into a nearby KFC just to beg napkins to wipe off some of the blood. My knee didn't want to finish that run. As luck would have it, it happened 9 miles from home, so it was a long gimpy walk back. Glad you were tough and finished off your run.

A bunch of 8 milers this morning I see.....good running milbot....lynden....mc...and tripleJ. Finn...I think you owe everybody one extra mile...or just borrow one from ks. Good run FF. Nice to see ks's illness was shortlive. Nice work there mr machine.

Sal....I'm still holding out hope it's a minor ailment Hope those x-rays are negative for bone disease.

tw....have a safe trip to Ky....don't get caught crossing the border with ...contraband.

I'm taking the lead of hoovie and Sal and resting today. First group training run for the Knoxville Marathon tomorrow morning. I like having some company on those long runs, but the best part is not having to carry "supplies." A nice local business sponsors the training program, so we have drinks/gels/candy etc along the route. Handy.

Excellent point about solving problems if people would run together. I would like to issue an invitation to all customer service employees of Hooter's to come run with me so we can discuss any problems they might have.

riley....every turkey trot should be run in snow. Embrace the holiday spirit.

Best wishes once again to all our weekend racers. Finish strong, or take somebody down with you.

Sorry to hear about Storm, MS. Thinking good thoughts for you.
ksrunr, sweet.
Hi FF!
I got to run again today... still just spooning it out in dribs and drabs as the AT continues to heal slowly. 2.5 miles @ 7:45 pace. It wasn't much, but it's mine. Then 100 situps and some sets of side planks.

Nice 20 miler KS - how long does that take you?
sorry to hear about Storm {{{MS}}}
Pink - hope your knee doesn't bother you much from that fall.
some of you got in some nice 8 milers also.
I'll be the odd one and do a 3-4 mile run today on my lunchhour. Tomorrow I'm running 10-ish. A friend is running CIM in a few wks, so she's into her taper now and is getting bored running alone, so I said I'd join her for a run. Tomorrow and the next several days are all rain, so looks like it'll be a cold/rainy day . . . just the way Mill likes it.
My 7 yr old son HAD to watch the Ducks/Arizona game last night. I think his teacher is a HUGE Duck fan because their class had a "vote" on who would win and the final score and whoever gets closest gets to go to the prize box today. My husband and I joked about her calling it a "vote" instead of a bet. We even joked about "she didn't ask the kids to put up their lunch money did she?" Well, my son is the ONLY one in the class that said Arizona would win. He "voted" something like 23-8, but since he voted for the winning team he automatically will win - he was jumping around and shouting at the TV last night - turning into your typical sports male I guess! LOL

My group already solved the problems but they won't run with us to find out the answers.
My 20 actually went better than I anticipated. I ran a 6 mile tempo run last night because we had some new young navy pilot and his girlfriend show up for the first time and I couldn't let them show everyone up

Ran first 5 alone, met my buds and ran 6 with them before they turned back, and then finished alone. Avg 8:04 and last 4 were 7:25 to 7:45 pace. Highest hr was the 1st mile at 145 then settled in at around 122 - 125. Total time 2:41:22

Off to look at vehicles - trucks. Got my little truck to the repair shop today.

We have always had dachsunds and have to put more down than I'd like to remember. We've only had one cat and she was a good one but she had a stroke and couldn't see or smell. She could hear because she would walk towards the lawnmower when it was running. But inside she would walk until she got to a corner and then couldn't see to get out so we'd find her standing or sitting in the corners. She couldn't smell so she wouldn't eat or drink which left us no choice.
