Got done past midnight so it's tomorrow already. 30k in the dark. The conditions were perfect for once. About 55 degress, cool with a little bit of wind. Hit half marathon in 1:51 and hung on for 2:40 for the 30k, an all time PR. On track for my fall marathon.

Good luck everybody.

PA - is up and reporting early!! Nice run!!

90 mins of moh this morning. 7:47 avg pace. A down pour between mile 2 and 3 felt great. But hot and humid the balance of run. Another down pour shortly after finishing.

I'm planning to take today as a rest day. But depending on how the VRAA looks later today, I may venture out for a few points. This is the last day and it's very, very close.

Not resting much though as I've already taken down a Baby Fence around the Pool and hacked away a bunch of overgrown brush that was overhanging the path behind the house. Later is a BBQ at some friends' house.

I grunted and groaned through my resistance work this morning, another series of high resistance, low reps. Only a few expletives. Then I got out and ran 5.23 miles in 46:13 (8:50 pace). I had meant to take it much more slowly, but a rabbit runner up ahead spurred my pace on. It wasn't the plan, but it was fun.

I have a 5K race planned for next Sunday, and I'm feeling pretty good about it, even though my mileage is way, way down and I'm not doing any speed work at all. I'm just looking forward to running in a race! My current training program has me doing intense weight work on Saturdays so I'm going to bump that workout up one day earlier and do that workout on Friday instead. Then I'll take an easy run on Saturday and run my race on Sunday. Hopefully that will give me enough recovery to run a good 5K.

Good morning and happy day off to all who are celebrating.

Nice workout PA.

Way to time your downpours KS.

Bill, I don't think it's as close as it looks. One team is waiting to enter their past few days' points until today, I believe. So, don't hurt yourself taking one for the team.

Dropped my son off at XC practice, went up to the HS track for intervals, and was done in time to pick him up. Synchronicity.

Mile and a half warm up, 1600m in 6:57.9, (800m), 1600 in 6:45.5 (800), 6*200m (200) in :45 / :44 / :44 / :43 / :42 / :43.; 1 mile cool down.

Tried to enter this in my RA log but it won't take interval workouts this morning - will have to go back and backfill tomorrow, I guess.

Oh, did 30:00 of stretching this morning too. Now it's off to Saratoga Lake to spend the day with my family on a buddy's boat, along with him and his family. Should be an absolutely perfect day for relaxing on a boat - 75 degrees and sunny all day.

Gorgeous day here too (metro NY) and I see that lots of kickmasters have already churned out the miles! Way to go!

DH and I took a good spin class and then I walked a mile with the dynamic duo. They almost yanked my arm out of my socket when they spotted a squirrel moments before I did. For small dogs (about 23 lbs each), they are pure muscle and extremely strong.

I have very little on tap for the rest of the day. I want to clear off my night table, which is completely covered with the telephone, books, magazines, nail files, hand cream, half-filled glasses of water, tissues, etc. Usually I am much more organized but the night table has become a catch-all for my junk, and I don't like that. Even just throwing out the older magazines will make a huge difference. Somehow I always think I'm going to go back and re-read certain articles and I almost never do so, so I should just rip out the appropriate pages to save and throw out the rest of the magazine. Then I want to wash my hair and dry it in the sun, which is one of life's most wonderful small pleasures. I'm also reading a good book by Joyce Maynard called "The Good Daughters" which is really enjoyable. I'll probably be able to finish it today.

Enjoy your day, everyone. School starts here tomorrow and the traffic is going to be horrible. I'll have to leave the house 15 minutes earlier than summer departures.

Fist bump for Plugging Along and his excellent 30k. dude.

I'm going to do my core/strength stuff today (BTY ), maybe a wee recovery jog, and the bulk of the day will be dedicated to reading a ph.d. thesis (the defense is tomorrow so I have no more room to procrastinate ).

Nice runs this morning PA, ks, Robin, and bty. tom, who's doing the infomercial for "As Seen On TV"?

I'm just hanging out waiting to fulfill my assignment as 10K trail race sweeper. I sure hope I don't have to extract any fallen runners from a ravine. My repelling skills are not what they once were...

^5 on the 30K in the dark, PluggingAlong!!
Congrats on the monster PR yesterday, Econo!!

Yay for being pain-free, TW!

Nice intervals, BTY.

No running for me today, just a nice sleep-in and a leisurely breakfast of blueberry pancakes. Will give the foot a couple of days off, but I'm encouraged that there's no swelling or bruising this time. Hurt like a SOB when I rolled it, but I must be getting like Johnny, as my recovery seems to be improving with each time.

If the rain stops, I'll try to get at my compost bins... a job I've been putting off since July. The finished compost in one needs to be removed, screened, and stored for next spring, the second (unfinished) needs to be turned into the first when I get it cleaned out, then the next one started up. It's an upper body work out for sure!

Congrats Paul and Econo on great PRs!!!

Also congrats to OrangeMat on the weekly mileage, It was not too long ago you weren't able to run much.

In fact, a lot of you are running great mileage and long runs right now.

I talked myself into doing the second race saturday evening. My legs were a little tight when I started my warmup but they loosened up a little after about 10 minutes. I kept my warmup shorter and just did a couple more strides. The race started and I was about 10th place. What was different about this race was that they also had a relay going on at the same time where the first runner ran 2.3 miles and the 2nd runner ran 2.05 miles. (the race was a 7k) I didn't know which runners were in the relay and which weren't. I had moved up to 7th place by the mile which we hit in 6:31. It felt a little faster than that but after only running twice the last 6 weeks and a race that morning, I wasn't going to worry about it. I soon passed 3 runners and moved into 4th as we got to a turnaround on the bike path. Another runner was keeping pace with me and we passed the 3rd place guy by 2 miles. This split was 12:17 so we were running a bit faster than 6:30 pace. When we exited the bike path, the relay runners made the exchange. We were now running directly into the wind so I picked up the effort a little only to have a runner go flying by me. I figured he was a relay runner. With a gradual uphill and the wind, I was able to catch him by 3 miles in 18:34. I was 10 seconds faster than I had run earlier in the day!! Knowing I only had 1.35 to go, I really started feeling good. I could see that the lead runner was coming back a little but knew he was too far ahead to catch. I ran the 4th mile in 6:00 (24:34) and kept the pace steady to the finish line in 26:40. I was only 21 seconds behind the winner who got a $100 prize!! I even beat all the relay teams who won $50.

I did get a glass that I got filled up at the local sportsbar. I also got a second glass of refreshment along with some deep fried veggies for my post race refueling

It was great to run a race that the heat wasn't a problem. Even though I haven't trained the last 6 weeks, my time was a little faster than the hot humid 5 mile races I did earlier this summer. I am going to try running once a week and racing on the weekends and see if my feet hold up until it gets cold.

After taking yesterday off, I am headed to the fitness center to do an eliptical workout today.

Here is me (3rd picture in blue) listening to AC/DC on my big goofy headphones just before 4 miles. I didn't get any musical advantage though as the winner (first 2 pictures) was also listening to some tunes during the race.

I am so glad we met up since I missed her after the race. I added 4 miles to the tail end and didn't get back to the NH Green until later. Kismet to get a Gin hug. How did it go? How's the knee?

Placed 291 out of 2279 and chopped a minute off of my best time. Dr. J and I added miles to make it long and were joined by my speedy RI friend Claire Gadrow who was 2nd in the 40-44 age group.

A fast, windy, hilly run this morning as a dry run for an inaugaral 10 mile race next month. I ran with the RD and tried to keep up and not slow him down too much. 10 miles @ 8:59/mile.

Paul! You slammed home a 2-minute 10K PR () on Saturday, a 20 mile LR on Sunday, and today a hilly 10-miler!!! Don't forget to rest, OK?

Great racing for Pink, Karin and Paul. Do we have any news from the McSolar runner?

I hope all the American Laborers are having a relaxing day on Labor day. As for me, just 1 hour of yoga to keep up with miss Econo's core challenge. A rest day is what my body needed after the hilly runs I did on the weekend. I finished last week with another strong 50 miles week.

nice racing paul, econo, rip and cny!

tough morning here: 80f, 60% humidity for our 8mi race on a tough course. personal worst for me, 56:41... and i was crushed by over a minute by my three rivals who all finished within 30 sec of one another or so. mrs. w. passed me right at 4 miles at the base of the cliff just like she did 4 years ago, and the next time i saw her was after the finish as she handed me a cup of water. grrr. finished 34oa and 2nd ag, so i think a lot of people suffered. only 8 more weeks of summer, can't wait.

for some weird reason the race has messed up my taste buds, as everything tastes like tequila now. i'm not saying it's a terrible thing, just weird.

First, Paul shut up. I am very tired of you. You should be exhausted and I don't appreciate your cheerfulness!

TW, great marketing idea. I am still trying to market my invention, the "Stadium Pal" sort of like a catheter that runs into a bag you strap to your calf for long sports games where beer is involved. Not to go into detail here but I can explain to those interested.
