*yawn*

I hate being up this early. The group run is still on, as far as I know. It's still minus 18 C out there...brrr. And a big storm is on the way. Up to another 20 cm...on top of the wack of snow we already have. I've not seen this much snow in a very long time.

Prae thanks for the lovely words of motivation last night!

I just noticed that the snow has begun. We'll need snowshoes by the end of this run. It's a half marathon distance so I figure with the group we'll be out over 3 hours. I'm really not looking forward to this...

Good Morning! It's our 10th anniversary today, so we are going to out to eat tonight...I can't remember the last time we went out, it should be nice.

Just some easy miles today, around 8 or so. I might hit the 'mill to do some incline/decline work, it's getting easier every time I try, so that is good.

I guess nobody here is racing this weekend?

I signed up for Grandma's yesterday! So, I'll see a bunch of you there...fun!

Have good runs, everyone.

Hey all:

Happy anniversary Jen. And congrats on the Grandma's signup.

Clare - that's some crazy running. The snow we were supposed to get last night didn't materialize. Good for us.

Last night was track night. Workout was 5 x (800 in 2:38, 400 in 1:18 ) with half distance jog after both. Results were:

1: 2:37, 1:17
2: 2:39, 1:16
3: 2:38, 1:17
4: 2:38, 1:18
5: 2:40, 1:19

This one was definitely more lungs than legs. I tried to run the last set just by feel without looking at any splits and the fatigue showed there a little bit. Moderate workout, no complaints.

Just for an interesting point of reference, I looked up similar workouts from the past and last March I went totally into oxygen debt during a 6x800 at 2:55 with 400 jog, in June, right before my 5k PR I did one 6x800 in the high 2:40s, and one low 2:40s (both deep in o2 debt by the end). Interesting.

Today is an easy 6 or so, tomorrow I'll go 2 hours hard.

Scratch - good luck at the race

Tom, the snow materialized here in the Lehigh Valley, but only about an inch of fluff. Streets are clear. Guess I'll be heading out soon for a couple of easy miles.

Cus, so glad to hear that you are out of your cast.

Just told DH about the Pgh Marathon next Spring. He asked if they'll have other events like Philly did (HM, 5 or 8K option.) Anyone know?

crane, heal quickly.

congrats, Scratch, on your highest monthly mileage. Great job.

I ended up with 48 miles in February. 2 weeks of downtime and then a week of recovery. (Had that not happened it would have been a 114 mile month.)

Jill, I'm having a hard time finding recent information about the race. Pacer's post the other day about a possible date was complete news to me. Thus, I don't know about other races, but I really hope there are (that way we can convince more 30s to show up!). I'm also really hoping that the race happens at all. I'm sure you (or your husband) know all about Pittsburgh's financial distress, and I read one blog complaining about how much it would cost (though someone responded that it would probably gain revenue for the city). If anyone sees anything, please send me the info.

Also, Myron, I'm moving this summer, so I actually won't be able to train on the course, though I've lived in two of the neighborhoods that the old race went through. Regardless of geography, it will still be a hometown race.

Good running this weekend, everyone! Off to babysit my sister's kids.

Well, if nothing else, at least you 'generally' know the lay of the land, even if you haven't run it.

You can always try running bits and pieces now. Even if you aren't running long runs on the course, running 5 miles here and 3 miles there, on the course (particularly the tough sections) might give you confidence, and help you know how to train for them.

Hi all -

Off to the ART doctor this morning, I'll let him at my hip/butt this morning, since it's been feeling tight. My legs have otherwise been feeling okay this week (crosses fingers, then crosses them again). I'll have him work on my wrist, since I'm there. And we did get another 6 - 8 inches last night, so I have move shoveling and need a strong wrist for that!

No run today, 4 tomorrow.

Good runs to all!

4.2 miles on the TM this morning - all I could manage before having to head to work - hopefully last basketball game of the year today...not that I don't wan the team to be successful, but I want some free time next week (spring break)

Morning Gang -

Scratch - 5 miles would be a fun distance to race, I bet. I haven't raced that distance before. Good Luck!

Enjoy your dinner out Jen - Happy Anniversary!

Tom - your workouts always look so interesting! Makes me think it might be fun to focus on shorter races and speed sometime.

Clare - we probably had similar workouts this a.m.

I ended up running 13 miles in 2:02:29 (9:24 pace). 17 degrees, windchill 7. Quad was fine. Hips, knees and rest of my body hurt at about 10 miles on. It felt crappy. I also tried sport beans for first time (since Theia said they work for her sensitive stomach). They didn't affect my stomach, but I don't think they helped much (or maybe they did and if I hadn't taken them the last 3 miles would have been that much suckier). Anyway - glad the long run is out of the way!

Good runs to all!

Hey gang, um, yeah - not running today. But! Not dying today either. May only take 1 or 2 naps instead of yesterday's 4. . .

I have a question about breathing. When you are running, how do you breath? For example, both B and my running buddy are very spontaneous breathers but I have to have a rhythm. Now it drives them both a little crazy, but it also keeps me on a really even pace. Am I the only one who does this?

conventional running wisdom is inhale for 2 steps, exhale for 2 steps. I just breath.
