Good luck BG and taper well all you Chicago folks!

Well, last week was a "recovery" week for me. Only 13 miles running for the week. No choice in the matter really. The Wilson Bridge Half absolutely kicked my butt and I had DOMS in my entire lower body the next day. By far it's the most sore I have ever been after a half marathon. So I walked, rested, and eventually started resuming activity. I think I finally turned the corner late in the week and by Saturday I whipped out a nice LONG ride on the road bike of 45 miles. That's the longest I've ever gone in a single ride. I guess I need to shoot for a 50 miler now...

Hopefully this week will be back to normal. But it will tough to get the workouts in, because my work week is going to be a very busy one. I'll do the best I can to squeeze 'em all in. Definitely running long (20+) on the weekend, however.

M 9/20 - rest/1.25 mile walk at lunch just work out some soreness from the HM

Tu 9/21 - brisk 2.5 mile walk in evening with DW

W 9/22 - 50 minutes elliptical

Th 9/23 - 45 minute recovery run, very slow 4.9 miles total, legs still quite sore, more XT needed!

F 9/24 - 40 minute swim, 1350 yds

Sa 9/25 - biked 45 miles (Fairfax-Ashburn VA RT)

Su 9/26 - progression run on TM, 8.5 miles w/ final 2 @ MP

bah. I think I'm getting DD's cold. 18 weeks of healthy injury free training only to be felled by the common cold 6 days before race day. I'm fighting it tooth and nail - Airborne, water, rest, green tea, rest, orange juice, chicken soup, rest. You get the idea. I'm just going to have to hope for the best.

Hi, everyone. Great racing and training this week.

Big G - hope you get over the cold!

I had a mixed week. Good mileage wise, but not what I planned. Had to cut my 20 miler on Saturday short due to a calf cramp, but made up for it with back-to-back runs Sat and Sun.

On the negative side, I'm starting to have a little pain in my shin, and I'm worried about a stress fracture recurring. Tonight will be a good indicator of what's going on....

M - 6

T - 6, with 7 x 800 @ 3:25 - 3:30

W - 4

Th - Rest (intentional)

F - Rest (unintentional)

Sa - 10.5, trails

Su - 15.5

Total: 42 miles

Nice job, all...

Hawk - great that you got the xtraining in during the recovery

Big G - ditto on hoping you can get healthy for next weekend!

FB - way to beat your planned mileage, and good luck with the half!

Swallen - nice miles, hope things go well tonight

Runninlaw - saw the 10k results, way to bounce back!

Pretty up and down first week of taper for me. After intervals tuesday my hamstring was sore, but it recovered enough that I felt comfortable doing the last long run Sunday, which went fine but now it is kind of sore again and I had to bag the track workout this morning. No long runs left and I feel like if I just run easy and a little marathon pace stuff I will be ok for Chicago. My PT and yoga instructors are quickly becoming my best friends.

M - 50 Minutes Elliptical

T - 9.7 w/ 3 x 2000m at about 7:06 pace

W - 1 Mile on treadmill and 65 Minutes Elliptical

T - 8.2 Easy

F - 3.5 Easy

S - 60 Minutes Elliptical

S - 16.7 Easy

Total - 39.2 miles, 2:55 Elliptical

Well another one bites the dust. I'm official out for CIM in December. After an unsuccessful campaign to will my calf to "magically heal itself" for 3 weeks, I finally saw my doc yesterday. Soleus strain. PT and strengthening on the docket for the next two months. Will slowly build back up to running and hopefully be able to resume regular training sometime in December.
