With the major marathons on this weekend in London (already finished in 2:04:40) and Boston tomorrow, I laced up my shoes for my own little marathon steps on teh road back to fitness. My, now somewhat regular, run of just under 6 km. We had a storm last night and it was overcast and around 18 C when I went out and ran easliy without much effort, recording a time of 1 minute faster than previously on this route, albeit little traffic today and no junctions to worry about.

Good luck to all heading to Boston, and any otehr races anyone is doing - see you in the week.

nice run Liam

Tammy.....part of your marathon training should be fueling requirements as well. You burn what, 100 calories per mile running? With that little BF you should have eaten a couple of gels during your run minimum.....but you know all this anyway. Other than that, nice run.. Wish I could meet up and run a 16 or 18 miler with ya, but don't think it's in the cards now.

Hi guys!

One day at a time, Liam. You're heading in the right direction.

You tested that ankle out yet, Johnny?

Rest day for me today. I'm pleased that the foot isn't hurting much at all and the AT that I thought I'd screwed up isn't bad at all, but maybe it's just the effect of the ice and Aleve. Will know for sure tomorrow when I get back at it. Results for yesterday haven't been posted, but from another forum I lurk on, I understand that only 3 of the original 43 that started the 50 miler actually finished it. I rinsed out the socks, gaiters and insoles on the back porch in a bucket this morning, and there must have been at least a half cup of sand at the bottom of the bucket when I was done. And that was after knocking off an 1/8" layer of sand that was on the forefoot of the insoles before dumping them in the bucket.

Looking forward to following Boston tomorrow. Go racers!!

great to hear that Tom ran every day! whoo!!

enjoy the taper KS. What will you do with all that extra time?

Heme, good resting for you. I'm hoping all systems are a go tomorrow and it wasn't just the Aleve masking anything.

Johnny, wishing you could do some of my long runs with me also. Certainly makes time go by faster with a friend. But I guess doing these runs solo builds mental stamina. Yes, you are correct that I need to take something with me on these long runs. I thought some electrolyte enhanced water I was carrying with me would be enough for 16 miles, but I think I need a gel on these runs also.

felt pretty good today. no soreness, just some tightness thru the hams, but that's nothing unusual for me.

short week for me. only working M-W, then going on an overnight field trip with my sons class. leaving at 0630 thurs and don't return until about 1800 on Friday. lots and lots of walking from what I understand. And climbing a bazillon steps at the state capitol. First stop is a tour of Autzen Stadium, then a tour of the capitol, then an overnight at the Portland Zoo. Portland is close to 5 hrs from here, so quite a ways for alot of these kids.

Hi everybody.

7.04 miles in 60:00 and it felt hard from the beginning after yesterdays trail half marathon.

I even held off running until 7 pm to get a little more recovery. I can see at least two more recovery runs in

the next couple days.

I will be writing a race report shortly.
