Meteorologists are stupid. Heard several of them (radio, TV, etc) saying how today was much less humid then it has been. It is foggy. Fog=100% humidity. Open a frikin window.

On a related note, a 5.5 M sweatfest this morning. I need for fall to get here, and to loose some "insulation".

Mornin' gang!

Just finished reading the weekend run posts. Seems like most of us are in the same boat with all this humidity and heat. Even us waaay up here in Canada.

I got a couple of real sweaty, thick runs in on the weekend. And afterwards I jumped straight in my pool to cool off. Whew!

Yesterday I did 10k but only managed to eat a yogurt afterwards. I woke up at 2 AM feeling awful. My belly was growly and my muscles were twitchy. So I got up and had a big glass of grapefruit/orange juice and went back to bed. Feel a lot better today.

My right ankle has been a bit sore lately, though. I don't remember twisting it or anything. But I've never had any issue with it before. Odd.

RIL sorry for the lingering belly issues! I picked up something one time I went to Mexico. It lasted for 6 MONTHS! Ugh. Awful. I hope you start to feel better soon!

Good morning!

First run in many weeks is in the books! Woo hoo! I ran 2 miles this morning and it felt great. I'll do a strength class tonight as well.

Yeah, it was 89% humidity when I went out this morning... we had some rain last night and are predicted for more later today.

Way to get out there Tonya! It's hard to get back to it after taking time off. 2 miles is a great start.

Day One of Twin Cities training started for me today. I'm doing the Pfitz 12-55 plan, hopefully modifying it so I'll have more miles each week though (switching the cross days to easy running days for some of them). It was a great start with 8.55 miles, including 10x100m strides.

Good runs and rests to all today!

What a gorgeous morning! I didn't run - just walked Pico Freako, but it was beeyooteeful. Very cool and delicious out there. I think it was 61 when I came in the house.

I have 3 on tap today, I could have run them this morning but I'm listening to my twingey left shin tendon thing and decided not to push it. I may or may not run tonight. I don't want to overdo again and get laid up for a week. I figure it's better to proactively reduce my mileage a skosh and be able to run all week than to push it and be forced into reduced mileage by not being able to run for days. It sucked not running this morning in the delightful weather though.

Happy Monday running everyone!

6.6 sleasy miles this morning. Like Tonya mentioned it was 89% humidity. What she didn't say was that it was 71F. Goal was to take it nice and slow. Check. Even got to run the last mile with her.

Easy runs have to be easy from here out. The workouts these last 12 weeks until race day (TCM folks - you do realize race day was 12 weeks exactly from yesterday right?) get tough.

Morning. I ran a quick (and lovely) 3 miles this morning and really enjoyed myself.

See TCM thread for more details, but I decided on Friday to stop training for TCM, and since then, I've felt much better about my running. It's interesting that KP posted his article on Friday because I made my decision on Friday morning. I'm going to focus on losing weight, getting my eating in line, strengthening my core, increasing my speed, and getting back to loving running. I think the marathon is awesome, but I don't have to run one every year. It's more important to love what I'm doing.

morning!

What a weekend! It was a whirlwind, for sure. Great day in NYC with the ladies, then hustled home to meet my cousin in from Chicago. Out to dinner/drinks with friends, then up super early Sunday for a 13 miler. Quick shower and breakfast, and off to the Phillies game and watched the end of the World Cup at the bar in the stadium! Home again, another quick shower and off to dinner back in the city with my sis and BIL. I think my cousin was worn out, and I know I was! Slept in a bit and got 5 easy miles done this morning.

Whew.

Did anyone race this weekend? Or just a bunch of hot, humid (tummy troubling) running?

Good luck with your decision. We are all different. I know my running has not been the same since I ran my one and only marathon. I am trying to figure out why. Been almost two years of missing mojo.

morning peeps

No run yet today. I was going to but I got home later than i wanted to last night, slept horrible and could not drag myself out of bed at 5 a.m. I rescheduled my blood donation and I'll run after work 6ish I hope.

Lifting last night felt harder than I think it should have but 14 miles in the soup that was yesterday morning I guess will do it to you. during the ab thing, both of my quads cramped up on me..yeeeehaa..that HURT. My arse hurts this morning from the leg press. Now that one actually felt better than it has lately. weird.

I got in 49 miles this past week. It felt ok even in the humidity.

Prae - that must have been a hard decision but I am glad that you are feeling good about it. Are you going to try to get into the 10 miler?

Yo - busy weekend again, too much red meat, not enough quality miles, feeling sluggish. Summer sucks sometimes.

I managed 11 miles Sat and melted, then did an OK 17 miles yesterday - temp was down but still quite humid. It was a chafetabulous run! One guy popped his cherry - first time pooping in the woods.

I'm quite disappointed the Dutch couldn't pull out the win - not to whine about calls because some did go the Oranje way, but I was kinda puzzled by some calls and non-calls the ref made - particularly the VERY late yellow card on Huitenga and the no-call on Robben as he was mugged on a breakaway. Oh well - at least the French did poorly!

Track series finale tonight - the 2 person 4 mile relay Grudge Match of Death! Team Cobra Kai will be representin' - or at the very least, we shall be present.

Whew. 5 miles; the second half was in full sun. Blech. And then I did a Jillian Michaels yoga dvd I got from the library.

Um.... Jillian and yoga just don't go together. She is too much of a bitch.

ha! mugged? I don't think so. He avoided almost all contact on that run in. If he would have went down, probably there would have been a call but other than some mild impeding, it wasn't much. He got beat by the goalie fair and square. Outside the box, a foul perhaps, inside, no way jose!

Morning! Getting myself back to the yoga studio tonight - it is WAY overdue. My body hates me and I hate that I can't seem to make time for regular sessions there. Must re-tool the schedule.

G'morning all - got out for 24 miles on the bike yesterday. Time has a way of making you forget why you stopped doing things a certain way - there's a mile-long section of the road shoulder on the highway up to Napa that I have avoided like the plague because of the lack of paving but decided this time to ride it to remember what all the fuss was about.

Maybe a mountain bike with big knobby wheels would be okay on the stuff, but your typical road bike on skinny wheels just doesn't cut it, as I found out during those several bone-chattering minutes traversing it.

(((((30s tummies))))) I hope you all are feeling better today...and props to all of you braving this heat and humidity

Prae - you gotta' do what's best; if running that marathon isn't going to satisfy you, then by all means do what you have to do to whatever your first 'thon a good one.

Pacer - if Robben had just gone down on that breakaway, he would've gotten that goal kick and probably the Dutch would be celebratin' today. But I give him credit for staying upright on that run - he was obsessed yesterday. And yeah, that call on Huitenga was bogus.

kp's article - finally got to read it through this weekend. I'd say most of it is well-taken and I agree with the general principles.

But in one big way, it doesn't really apply to me. I get a lot of satisfaction with being a "semi-serious" competitor, because that's what makes me the most happy with my running. Competition is only a small part of the happiness equation in terms of what running gives me. If I don't fully tap my PR potential because of my outlook, I can live with that no problem.

I didn't realize this was still and option (thought the registration deadline had passed). I need to think about this. Will get back to you.

Clearly, you are insane. Did you not see the Spanish dude grab and wheel his legs around Robben? I agree though - if he does the normal thing footballers do (throw their hands up, flail to the ground, roll around and whine) he gets a penalty. The one he really needed to make was when he was unimpeded and the goal snuffed it out.
