So Coach Sheldon has these drills he wants me to do. One arm swimming drills. I watched the video, and secretly though to myself, yeah right!

So today when I went to the pool, I was planning to try them. I did may warm up and started in on these ridiculous one arm drills. I floundered A LOT at first. Finally I got the hang of it.

Then the craziest thing happened. When I went back to my regular front crawl stroke, I was rolling better on both sides, and... drumroll... I can now breathe on both sides! I have tried, very unsuccessfully to do this in the past and about drowned. But it came WAY easier after these silly drills, and I can feel my stroke getting smoother. It's too soon for me to be faster, I think, but the stroke felt better and smoother. I did take in a mouthful (or 2) of water and had to stop swimming due to the water in my lungs, but only a couple times.

So, from Florida, he managed to teach me to do this.

Maybe those silly drills aren't so silly after all.
