Today's calendar event:
Do a "Turkey Trot" race, 30 pts. Or run an extra 2 miles, 20 pts

I didn't do a Turkey Trot, I didn't go for a run . . . but I'm starting off the daily MC thread anyways!

So, if you did a turkey trot, went out for a run, got out of the kitchen to do something, tell us about it!

And if you are taking a day off and just enjoying the day with family and carbloading for that long run this weekend . . . ENJOY!

you're such a party animal!
Oy. I am not a morning person, yet I got up at 5:45 (!!) am this morning and headed out to Lake Balboa Park for the Lake Balboa 5k Turkey Trot.

Oy again. I'm just getting back into running again after years off, and haven't finished my Couch to 5k running program yet. Oh well....I finished with a new personal worst of 47:39. At least I wasn't last: I was just nearly last, finishing ahead of a whopping 11 people. I was either 174th or 175th -- I can't remember. At least I finished fairly strongly, with a pale imitation of my old finishing kick.

Oh well, nowhere to go but up, right?

I'm very glad I ran: thanks for suggesting this activity, Cappy. I had a great time. It was a cold, foggy morning here in L.A., and the line of runners ahead of me disappeared into the fog. Very atmospheric. Great fun.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
ran a 10k Turkey Trot. Not a PR but a nice hilly way to start the day. Then feasted on chinese food all day
Ran the 8K Turkey Trot "with" IEatHills4Meals this morning. She did great! And she posted a race report with pictures

I hope everyone had a good day whatever activity was chosen.
This reminds me of A Christmas Story! "Fa ra ra ra ra.." Love that movie!
Oh, I wimped out on my turkey trot. And on running at all. But I'm well carb-loaded for a possible 3M tomorrow! And probably for the next few weeks' runs!
I did end up going for a walk after dinner today, so I guess I get 10 points for at least 20 min of exercise, but didn't get to take advantage of raking in the extra points on running or racing today.
Wow, now I'm really confused. According to the official race results, I finished my Turkey Trot in 43:23:00, rather than the 47:39 that I thought I had decoded as my time.

That makes more sense with my split at the halfway point, but...could I really have been so far off? I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but 4 minutes faster?

The little slip of paper with all the times was really confusing, and now I'm wondering if it didn't confuse the race organizers as well.

Weirdness.
