Lower back pain, what to do about it?

So when I tweaked my hammy, I think I totally overcompensated during the rest of my circuit workout with my lower back. It's been hurting since Monday. It feels ok when I'm up moving around for the most part. But after sitting, I get up and hobble around like an old person for a while. It sucks.

What can you do about this sort of thing? I made an appointment with a massage therapist for tomorrow. I hesitate to go to a doctor, because I don't have a lot of confidence in their treatment of back pain.

If the massage doesn't help, do I just call up a physical therapy place and go from there?

I've been running still, since it doesn't hurt to run. I also did some weight lifting this morning because the movements didn't cause me any pain. Ack, this sucks.

I feel like this happened because I finally told some people (irl) that I am doing a half marathon, and now I'm worried this is totally going to sabotage that.

not sure how you feel about chiropractic, but that is what I would do. I have a very good sports chiropractor though. I wouldn't just go to any ol backcrack doctor that wants you to come in 3x/wk for the next 5 months. It's real important to find one you can trust and won't string you along. You probably did overcompensate because of the hammy injury, so what the low back likely means is a few vertebrae down there are out of whack.

Can you find an inversion table? They work wonders.

Oh Meri, I would totally do this if you were here. Seriously.

I am getting a massage today and if that doesn't help, I'm going to look for an accupuncturist. How do you go about finding a good one?

I will also ask around for chiro suggestions and this inversion table thing...
