Is there a point that you just want to say "I quit, I can't do this anymore?".
I've been dealing with pf forever it seems. I'm able to run through it, but I can't do early morning runs, I can't run outside. Some days, I just want to cry.

Two years ago I suffered a pretty serious knee injury in a fall on ice. Eventually had surgery to repair the damage but there are days when things just don't feel right. Then last year I developed plantar fasciitis on the same leg. Some days it hurts so much just walking, let alone running.
Makes me crazy that it's impacted so much of my life.

I'm sorry sue. I know that sucks! How long have you had the PF? Mine lasted 18 mos, almost to the day. Then, one day it was just gone. POOF! One of the happiest days of my life!

Oh, have you tried ART for it? I have had great luck with that treatment for my AT, and have a friend who just started it for her PF and has been to two appts and can already feel some improvement.

But I do understand your frustration. I am at the end of a 3 yr battle with my AT. It been very depressing and I did just give up running, for 2 -3 years. Just now starting back.

It WILL get better!

I have taken myself out of "the running". I am not sure if I will ever get back into it. I had ACL repair a couple of years ago on the left and the right is noisy now. The Catch 22 is that I am too big and heavy since then and not being able to run- but the only way I seem to get enough activity to lose is to run.... ARGH.
I walk, bike, do elliptical, and play soccer ( with a knee brace- on grass the running isn't bad) I swim, and then do winter sports like snow shoeing and cross country skiing. It's not as much fun as being able to go to races and such - I always feel a little left out of that!
I hope your injury heals and you can get back at it soon!

I just went to a club meeting where a sports doctor spoke and she said that pf will burn out after 18 months--even the worst cases. I had it starting in August and I ran a marathon in September with no problems and I was good for one week and then it returned. I "do" absolutely need ART. I need to make it important enough to travel out-of-town to get it.

I've had PF in one foot going on a year now, so I know how frustrating it can be. I can get to the point where it's almost gone, or even gone for a day or two, but any increase in training intensity will bring it back. Luckily I can run on it - in the morning and outside, even - so I just live with it. But it sucks sometimes.

A lot of times people with PF focus on the pain in their feet (why not - that's where it hurts) but I've had some success keeping the calves stretched out and loose. When you go for massage or ART, maybe ask the therapist to check out your calves as well as your feet.

My ART guy works on my feet, calves, thighs and glutes. All for AT. I have been totally amazed at what he has found and how much it has helped me! I am a believer and I LOVE my ART guy!
