Man.... that's really good. Last year I hit my HIM RUN PR... 2:46. This year 2:38. So you're speedier than you think. Do what you gotta do to get to the finish... The achilles issues suck. Take some serious time rehabbing that. Achilles can take a long time to heal.

Ok, need I say it? OMG you have no idea how many bad jokes I have in mind about now... about spitting. Yeah. sure. So, let's suffice it to say you really need to work on spitting out any salt water as soon as it gets in your mouth on the swim. Nothing worse than salt water, ICK! I also use gum in my transition stuff. Swish some water to clear my mouth, toss some gum in there to further remove leftovers (it makes you salivate) and then spit it all out.

Rough bike... surely this course is indeed your nemisis... so are you signed up for next year?!?

I was shocked when I saw 2:49 too! and I know the run course wasn't short, it was exactly the same as last year and my garmin said it was over 13 miles (I didn't stop it right away so I think it said 13.3 or something)

haha! I'm a master spitter! I think my trouble came when small waves hit and I was trying to breathe, felt like the water was already down my throat and into my stomach or lungs before I even realized it. I stopped and tried to gag it up a few times (disgusting I know), but I just took in too much. It was weird because I've done lots of salt water races and never gotten the "salty tummy" before. The gum is a great idea, I did that for Ironman, but didn't think about it this time.

Not signed up yet, but I can't wait to kick Lonestar's butt next year!
Good job keeping your cool and figuring out while on course what you needed to do in order to keep moving forward and make it to that finish line!

I agree with you. It's too bad it's no longer called "Lonestar" and that the armadillos have gone.

Thanks Cheryl! yeah, I'm just always going to call it Lonestar

After some friends' suggestions I got an Airrosti treatment on my Achilles, it's feeling much better! I'm going to go for a run tonight and see how it feels.
