when daughter was checking into getting her first car this spring they told her the 'max' amount she could get a loan for ... I told her, numerous times, that she should try very hard to go lower than that and have less debt ... she got a car at the max *rolleyes*

hubby is in need of a new vehicle ... we haven't had a truck in a few years and have to borrow his dads to get our wood to heat the house, so he's looking into a truck ... bank tells him what the max they'll back a loan is ... I tell him, numerous times, that it's not a great idea to go at the max since we may need to repair or replace my car before the truck is paid off ... because insurance will go up a lot more ... because son will likely want us to co-sign for his first car in the next year or so like we had to do for daughter ...

well ... he calls up a guy that buys at auction and told him to look at the MAX price *dammit*

Why do I live with people that cannot be happy with enough and have to have as much as they can possibly get ahold of? really?

I guess some people aren't very good at delayed gratification. I'm one to talk. My parents always paid cash for a car and they always owned the car for at least 10 years. I've generally paid cash, but the last one I had to use my credit line.

we were at a point that we could own everything we have. but according to dh, paying off a car that has 0% financing, or paying off a home loan at 3.6% isn't good. So 2 weeks ago, he bought a car (we now have more car than drivers) and he's talking to the banker about buying the lot next to us "because we can get it cheap" (no duh, because the layout sucks and when the neighbor built his house he threw huge rocks and crap to this empty lot). We had our house paid off, but dh refinanced and we now have a mortgage on the house we live in, but we own the house that we can't sell. These are all the actions of person that says he wants to quit working and says he probably could if we sold alot of our stuff......I don't get it.
