Part of getting back on the horse includes starting weekend threads, putting funky tunes in your head, yes? Since the title could be a a few things, here's a clue...

Anywho..
Fun: Getting a run in BEFORE it hits 80 degrees today. (it's going to be 76 by 11am)
 
Fun: Tree guy #2 is coming out today. I found another tree yesterday down the property line that snapped, but is still hanging on. I might have left it alone, except that when the tree dies - there's a chance it will fall on the power lines - therefore, it's gone to come down too. Meh!
 
Unsure if he'll be able to do removal today or not, but I'm liking the guy already.

o yeah, this is going to be in my head all day now.

Seester Goon and the boyz are here for the weekend. I made a fabulous grilled marinated flank steak for our dinner last night. Super yum.Getting ready to go volunteer this morning at the Fetzer 20k. It's nice race weather, overcast, cool and ever so slightly misting. Hope everyone has fun fun fun weekend plans! whee!

Aren't they funny? My brother originally made them for his own kids, and both he and his wife use them. But when he was printing them at the studio other people saw & requested them, so he started making up pads.
 
This weekend - lots of chores to get done to be ready to host brunch next weekend and to get ready for 2 sales this month. Tonight we're <a href="http://maumee-chophouse.com/" target="_blank">going to dinner here</a> with my ILs to celebrate my FIL's birthday next week. Actually, Dh's birthday is Monday, so it's sort of a double deal.

Thanks everybody for acknowledging that I still have a groove to get on. It surprised the heck out of me. As the old saying goes: Nothing ventured. Nothing gained. That being said, I have to get a haircut and buy myself a new pair of pants. I'm going to be myself on this date, and that includes feeling my best when I do it.

Not fun: I have work to do.
 
Fun: The doorbell just rang and a neighborhood girl dropped off a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts from a fundraiser we did a while back. Woot!
 
Update: DS#2 is a stinker. He was being a real shiznit this morning and got a time out when we got home. He is supposed to up in his room and quiet for an hour. I just received a phone call, however, from the police department. Little stinker was sitting in his closet with the phone and called 911. Fortunately the good officer believed my story so they did not send a squad car out here.
 
Update #2: I take that back, a good officer did just arrive on the scene. He asked if all was okay and I said yes. Being the mean mom I am though, I made DS come down and the officer told him how he should not call 911 unless there is a real emergency. DS is horrified. But, lesson learned. And great, there is now an asterisk by the Giftos house with the pd. <img alt="rolleyes.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/rolleyes.gif" style="width:16px;height:16px;">

Tycho had his first soccer game of the season today. His new team is co-ed 1st grade, so that's fun to watch. They played 5 v. 5 for a while, then 7 v. 7 when some late arriving kids on the other team showed up. Tycho scored a nice goal from the middle of a crowd, so he was pretty pumped about that.
 
Then I worked at the U of O track meet for a while and finished my afternoon burning a brush pile in the field. 
 
RIL has me beat for excitement by a long ways!

Hi all - had a nice relaxing day; slept in, cooked up some feta and spinach omelets, then finally got to spend my Target gift card I got for Christmas on all sorts of home stuff I kinda' needed. I'm glad the whole federal brouhaha is over for now - it was pretty damn irritating to think about to say the least.
 
Love the EW&F reference - I think they were the first R&B band that I ended up really liking.
 
Mindi - talk about excitement; hopefully your DS has learned that's a bit too much for one day

Hey, everyone. Yesterday was a quite a day. I worked a track meet in the heat (90*) and when I got home, realized how burned my arms were. Then I went to church where I was lectoring for someone who was out of town. The AC in the church is not working, so I sat through an hour sweatfest AND had to get up in front of everyone TWICE. Thankfully I forgot to take a rubber band off my wrist and was able to put up my hair half-way through Mass. I thought I was going to melt. Then I went out to dinner with one of my grad students to talk about her future plans and the backs of my knees really started hurting. We went to B&N afterward where I used my Groupon to buy a travel book for Israel, Jordan and the Sinai to plan a hoped-for extension to my trip this summer. After kneeling on the floor to look at books on a bottom shelf, the backs of my knees were screaming, so I pulled up my pants and saw that the backs of my legs are fire engine red. Ouchie! I put lotion on my arms and legs when I got home, but it still really hurts to bend my knees. I'll have to do my prep work today in a semi-lounging state which will invariably lead to me falling asleep. :shakes head:
 
RIL, sorry for the drama yesterday. I hope things are much calmer today.

Best line of the day: DS1 was walking away from the fridge this morning in a rather suspicious way. I thought he trying to jack my last root beer, so I asked: "Mackenzie, what are you hiding?" DS3 pipes up: "His dignity."

heeellllooo friends.
 
i had a busy day at the hospital yesterday and didn't get home until close to 11p. it was a steady day but i was rewarded with the delivery of a little boy named hassani, which means gem in swahili. coolest thing was that he was one of the most beautiful babies i've delivered in 7 years. anyhow, today has been low key with errands and lunch with DH.
 
so, we had childcare issues yesterday and DH had a lecture to give to 100 other of his ophthalmologic colleagues so he ended up bringing AK to the lecture! there, he found someone to hold her while he gave his talk and thankfully, AK was cooperative! DH gets a high five for being the daddy of the month

(of course, said daddy of the month also put her on the bed and turned his back only to have her crawl off our bed - opps!)

This has been a weekend of general relaxation and random assorted stuff. Yesterday, I ran several errands but took the time to stop by the Borders that is going out of business. I got 6 new books for less than 1/3 of what the regular retail price would be. I <img alt="love7.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/love7.gif"> books. 
 
Today, I got out for a run/walk and then went to the local metropark and helped pull garlic mustard, an invasive non-native species. It actually is an edible herb so the naturalist had also made some food with it for us to try. I had a little pesto, a little pasta salad, and some lentil soup. Pretty interesting taste.
