Had a pretty chill weekend. Did a Harry Potter marathon, and while I only got through the first 6 films, it was fun. I could have watched the last two, but I was a little overloaded (and sleepy).

I went for a walk this morning! It felt great. When I want to stay in bed, I need to remember this feeling. It got colder as I walked, though, and I realized about 2 miles in that short sleeves was a bad idea. I'm still regaining feeling in my fingers.

Awesome pictures from the weekend, folks. Very nice junior racers you all have, and hubba hubba on Grayson in a tux.

Kath, that video was pretty funny. I thought the reporter was saying "Eric" weirdly; there really didn't have to be that much confusion.

All right, people. Let's do this!

Morning all.

I was entirely too lazy to post this weekend, but I did see the great pictures and run reports.

((KJ)) change is always hard, but it sounds like a new start is in order.

I may have some interesting things to report on this afternoon. Or I may just be disappointed. I'll let you know:)

(((KJ))) Change is good. Scary, but good.

(((Crane!!!))) Hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm hoping to make it through the day. Went to bed at 12:30 and have been awake since 4:15. Zzzzzzzzzzz. And I have a meeting tonight from 7 until ???? Snoring in a meeting is considered bad form, right? Ditto for drooling?

The weather has been amazing for running. I did 9 miles on Saturday and loved it. Low to mid 40s, bright sunshine... What a difference the temperature makes.

Me too. It was quiet around here this weekend.

No running for me this weekend, but I did get out for 5 this morning. Clean up from the snow has farged up my running. I am not training for anything specific, but I was in a good groove. Now I am spending dawn til dusk doing yardwork, and I just don't feel like running after that. Many evenings, I finish up around 4:30-5, shower, have some dinner, and I am falling asleep by 8. Gonna try and recommit this week.

On a running planning note, my entire family has decided that we will do a 5 K in the spring. All 5 of us. I need to find the event and then set up training plans :) (C25K anyone?)

Morning peeps!

I debated whether to post this, but who better to tell than all YOU guys?

I ran 3 DAYS last week!!! wOOt! I am aware that three days does NOT a habit make, but I'm running again this afternoon after I get done working at the library. I'm not going far at all, yet, and I have NO cardio left, but nothing hurts so far, and I had sort of forgotten what that endorphin rush feels like. Me likey! So, I'm working on building up not only the cardio, but the habit. Oh running, how very much I've missed you.....(cue violin music in the background)

I might also have some news, but I think I'll sit on it a little longer.

OH! School is still going GREAT, but it's winding down in the semester and I'm feeling the pressure. MUST get started on my last big paper for my Archives and Recordkeeping class...12 page literature review. GULP.

Time for food. Can't believe I haven't eaten breakfast yet...(gnawing arm off as I type this...)

I've got to skim over the past few threads...sounds like I've missed a lot.

morning. My first official day of unemployment and I have an interview at 10. Not really a job I'm interested in- mostly b/c of the commute, but I figure it would be good practice.

Amichel- intriguing news indeed. And sounds like Ann is keeping some under her hat as well! I've missed you guys and will be glad to have more time to post...and run of course.

Hi all - this weekend was all about getting packed early (I'm actually down to the random assorted stuff stage, which is pretty good) and family (lots of siblings and their kidlets came by to hang).

Love the pics from the weekend thread - Grayson in the tux (KJ - good luck on the job search!), Jillian in her dress (great job on your 5K, boB!), and Mindi's GOTR girls and her DS

Amy - how eeeenteresting; hopefully you'll have good news to share later. And more good vertebrae vibes to you Craney

It might be still a little early for the music related to the holiday, but I was just wondering - are we doing a Christmas card exchange this year?

Oooh! This. I *definitely* want to be in on this if we're doing it, but I'd need to know who's got the master list of addresses, and I need to have MY address updated.

Morning all! And greetings from my new office; I'm back in downtown Manhattan and completely blown away with our new space. It is AmAzInG!!! Gorgeous views and a gorgeous space in general, we have so much more room and great amenities. Before heading out to work this morning I ran a super easy 6.5 mi w/my Monday running buddy and am feeling very good. My run w/Tim pre-marathon was the turning point for me and I'm proud to say I ran 5 days last week, still relatively low on overall mileage (in the 30s) but a step forward for which I'm extremely grateful.

KJ – Grayson is so handsome!! Good luck w/the interview(s)!

GOTR looks amazing!! Congrats Coach Mindi! Love the boys hair too, nice flair

Nice race, boB!

Ailarie – I generally stay away from electronic gadgets such as what you posted yesterday esp. b/c if you go to PT they wouldn’t teach you to treat your injury w/something like that, they’d give you a simpler plan using household items or maybe bands, rollers, etc. Just my 2 cents.

Count me in on the Christmas card exchange!

A few pics from our new office:

To our west is the World Trade Center, this tower is the new 1 WTC (the most complete on the site to date)

Looking west again and down, still a lot of construction going on

We don't have many great views looking South but directly to our East we see the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges as well as look directly down into the new transportation hub being built across the street. More pics to come!

Greetings, all!

Yes, this weekend was quiet online! Hopefully that meant that people were out enjoying themselves, at least!

I'm slightly bummed/mad at myself over here. On 10/30, Mom gave me a gift certificate (paper format) for a salon that a friend of hers works at. I had planned on getting my hair french braided the day before the thanksgiving HM. Lo and behold, I went to where I expected it to be, and mysteriously, it's disappeared from my kitchen table. >< I'm usually extremely organized when it comes to financial stuffs, but work has me so frazzled that last week (for example), I paid for some meds at my vet's office and then walked off with my debit card still on their counter. Gah. I've looked everywhere I normally would stash stuff, as well as in the trash (yuck) and anywhere I might have illogically put the envelope. My fear is that I accidentally gathered it up with stuff to be discarded, and that trash already went to the landfield. Bye bye $100. >< I'm going to call mom today or tomorrow to see if by chance, since it was a hand-written thing, if they can cancel out the previous one and redo it. Probably not, but I have to try. I'm so disappointed. losing my own $$ is bad enough. Losing something that was a gift? <--crappy child of the year contestant ><

At least I got 4M on the Tm without incident yesterday. The ankle/foot still feels weird, but not painful, so I'm going to keep pushing a little more each time.

Christmas card listing - Wippy had the master file i think, but I also have a PDF from last year, if nothing else. I do know we have a few people with updated addresses - including me! :)

Bob - Jillian is so dang cute! She's gonna be a track star! You wait and see!

KJ - good luck with the interview, hunnybunny!

Ann - 3 days is 3 days! Rawr baby rawr!

Theia - /comfort. Hope you have one of those energy drink shot things nearby!

Amichel - woohoo for potential good news! Share quickly please!

Litch - the whole family committed? SWEET! Sounds like loads of fun!

Okay.. back to work!

So jealous of Maria's views.

That leads to a QOD. What is your biggest regret? (Share whatever you feel comfortable sharing....) Mine is never having lived in NYC. I think about it nearly every day.

Hi everyone! I think I'm finally to the point where I can post a short race report from NYC!

First off, I want to thank Maria and Missy for showing us around and organizing the meet ups. Very gracious hostesses! It was so nice to spend time with you guys! And little AK is a joy! DH was feeling a little weird about meeting all my crazy interenet friends, but you guys made him feel very welcome. He enjoyed chatting with everyone.

Next, I'm so happy with how my run went! All these little things started to go wrong just before and during the run so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had a nagging pain in my IT bands. I went the wrong way the morning of the marathon on my way to catch the bus at the library. I got poop on my leg in one of the porty potties before the run started. My Garmin stopped working at 2 miles in. I had to use the porty potty at the 10k mark. And a woman kicked me in the shin at one of the water stops and left a nasty bruise and lump. But I still felt fantastic, kept a really good pace and managed to finish the whole thing without walking and with a smile on my face. And I took 30 minutes off my previous marathon time with a 4:25 finish. I felt like a rockstar, running along giving people high 5s. It was like I wasn't even running for most of it. And hills? Bah, they didn't bother me at all. I didn't even notice them. My quads started to burn a little at the 24 mile mark but I just told myself to keep on pushing. It was great!

NYC was like stepping into a movie set, very strange. We had a chance to wander around some, see the Empire State Building, do a little shopping, NBC studio tour. And we ate at some fantastic joints. All in all, a great trip. I was more than ready to head home after 5 days, though. I missed my girls. And I missed the fresh air, green and water that is all around me where I live.

Now, some pics!

Maria - Thanks for the feedback on the foot massage thing. The main reason i was thinking about the unit, was because I could pop it on the floor near the couch as a reminder to attack my feet with it every now and then. I know the peanut (well, half peanut) that KP and Tonya kindly let me take home with me from their place would do far more good, but I have to keep that out of Pippin's reach. :) Crazy dog thinks my recovery tools are his to chew on at his leisure!

Qod: My biggest regret is that I had to go through a failing marriage to figure out how to stand up for myself / put myself first. That sounds corny, but in hindsight I can realize how much I accepted / tolerated that I shouldn't have over the years. Granted, if I'd figured out how to stand up for myself sooner, I probably would still have a failed marriage on record, and it likely would have happened many years earlier, but I wish it hadn't taken so long for me to get my ducks in a row. I rather like lined up ducks!

Awesome pictures, clare! I'm so glad you had a great running experience (I probably could have done without poo, shin kicks, and the like) and got such a huge PR!

Nice views, Maria! My window looks across into a parking garage. Very scenic.

QOD: I'm not sure if this is a regret or not, but I'm sorta sorry that I didn't listen to my gut and refuse to apply for R-1 university jobs 4 years ago. I knew in my heart that I wanted something different, but I let other people sway me. Here I am looking for a new job and completely miserable with my life. HOWEVER, maybe I needed to experience this so I appreciate more where I end up next.
