OK, so there's some bad mojo going around...my mom used to always make me look on the bright side no matter how bad things would get.

Here's mine...(and yes, shopping always makes things better) On my lunch I bought a new spinervals dvd - Sufforama. I'm addicted to those things! Can't wait to try it out!

Folks:

If you're the type who has in recent days questioned your work ethic or drive or even your ability to stick with, please take a step back to see where you are, take some time to understand that up and down phases happen, and then look forward to move you yourself forward in your training.

When you look back you will see that you are where you are because of your training. If you've been doing your winter base work, then you will be at a certain level. If you've been skimping, then you will be behind. But you will only be at a level that you have earned. Know also that if you've been down a week or two or even three, stop obssessing about it, because two or three weeks out of it will not have long-lasting effects on your overall fitness if you get back to work. Trust in yourself. Trust in your training. And trust in your base work. Because to conveniently forget that is to do yourself and all the hard work you've put in in the months prior a huge disservice.

When you step back to assess where you current are, know that there are no shortcuts. If you've done your work, you will be where you wanted to be. If you're not where you wanted to be but think you've done your work, then you've miscalculated something along the way. It's okay. It happens. But know it, accept it, then set a plan to work to get where you want. And if you're not where you want to be and have not done your work, then you know that. No use in wallowing there because, truth be known, you don't deserve it. So take assessment of where you are, understand where you came from to see how that impacts current fitness, and then move forward.

And when you move forward, lose the negatative thoughts stemming from previous pitfalls. I don't ever want to hear on these boards, "I suck. I can't do it." You can do it, you will do it, but only if you want it. Those other words are reserved for those looking for an out in the event of failure. So look forward, plan a course of action, and get out there and do it.

Treat yourself as if you were a child. You would never tell your son or daughter that she isn't good enough or that you don't think she could do something. Never. Instead, you empower her with confidence and the basic knowhow to accomplish what she wants. And so do it for yourself. Take ownership. Make it Happen! There's nothing more to it.

I'm positive the admins on my floor are doing their level best to drive me crazy...they keep swapping wall art around. Each time I walk by the pictures that have moved, I get that little feeling that something is not quite right.

On another note, it's February in the Pacific NW and when I look out the window, I can see blue sky & sun.

My wife gets on a plane to Germany tonight, and will spend the next two weeks with me here in Munich! That's pretty exciting. Oh, and my track workout went pretty well today.
