Good Morning all!

I think I'll break 100 today. I'm at 99.1. yes, I can do it!

John, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your best friend. especially to such a cruel disease. He's now free from the pain that held his body hostage. I'm glad you were able to spend time with him in these last months of his life.

I wasn't online much over the weekend, so I'll just play catch-up. I got in a 12 mile run on Saturday. sort of a hilly run, so my legs were toast by the end. I can't even imagine running the 15 I'm supposed to run this weekend, but I'll find a flatter place to run. yesterday my son and I went up to the gym. He played some hoops and I did the elliptical, a couple miles on the TM and a variety of weights. my puny little biceps are sore today. and it's not even like I did much bicep work. what a weakling.

today will be a RAL. probably just an easy 4-5 miles. Intervals tomorrow.

Hey, Tammy, what's with the .1 mile? I love the way you take your son to the gym.

Getting ready to go to lunch yoga. After work I have an errand and then I'll try to beat the storm for my swim/run.

Hi Tammy and Opie!

I think I'm going to try and run 15 miles this weekend too Tammy. I definitely head for more level ground when my goal is to just finish a run.

I found out today that my Hood to Coast team captain is in Egypt. Oh oh. I sure hope he gets back home safely and without much duress. I'm looking forward to hearing his stories.

I'll RAW. Three mile recovery after yesterday's too fast 11-miler.

Hi Tammy! Hi Opie!

Hope your friend's OK, Lab.

I'll RAW, too. It was -23°C today when I left for work this morning, and I didn't bother bringing any outdoor gear, so it's going to be another TM slog. A storm is headed in starting late tomorrow, and a foot or more of snow is predicted, so I may work at home on Wednesday for a change.

Stay warm everybody!

Gobi, is that Celsius or Fahrenheit? I know, it's cold either way, but there's cold.... and then there's Erika-cold!

4 miles very early this morning, pushing to maintain a 9 min/mile pace or better for the entire run. It was hard but I did it, though just barely, finishing in 35:53 (8:59 avg). I've been doing quite a bit of slower running lately, and aside from intervals, I haven't had any sustained harder effort, so it was time to try. I had planned on going to the late morning yoga class, but honestly, I was just too wiped from the run. Haven't been sleeping well lately either, and the internal temperature issues seem to be returning... ah, life's ups and downs...

Heme, seems we're getting the same storm you are. Stay safe and warm as well.

I went to the running club's awards dinner last night. Considering I barely know anyone in the club, I had quite a nice time. Just having a passion for running in common with all those people made me feel very comfortable there. I felt I belonged. I don't think I'd ever felt that way before in any other social gathering. Pretty cool.

Tonight is DD's National Honor Society induction ceremony. Probably not going to have any similar warm fuzzies from going to my alma mater for that.... oh well, can't have bliss every time ;)

OK, so I'm talking to myself today.... I just looked at the McMillan charts and based on the 5k I did at the beginning of the month (27:26), it says the pace for 4 miles for me is 8:59 -- exactly what I did today! How cool is that?

Greetings from sunny Ohio. My vacation is just a memory now as we await a snowstorm this evening of anywhere from 2-8 inches of white fluffy stuff.

I made myself do an easy run today so I started a little under 9 minute pace and worked my way down to 8 minute pace. Ended up with 7.31 miles in 60:00 at 3% incline. Elevation gain of 1135 ft.

These runs always seem to take the longest compared to when I am doing a workout. Billy Idol made the time pass a little quicker though.

Great workout OM. If you can walk out the door and run that pace for 4 miles, you are ready for a 5k pr.

Hi all.....thanks everyone for the words of support regarding the death of my friend. I appreciate it.

Rest day (from running anyway), had to work, besides, at close to 150, I have enough miles for the month.

I marvel at you folks.....seriously, I'm freezing mid-thirties F.

Rip...........Billy Idol......he played at the fairgrounds in the neighboring county last year or the year before, not really my style, but some people I know went and saw him. Said he looks the same as he did 30 years ago.

Nice run, OM! So far we've missed most of the snow you folks have gotten (most of my work group is in Raritan, NJ.... so I hear a lot of griping about the shovelling), but don't think we'll be spared this time. BTW..... Gobi will be on Celsius, like me.

Hit the TM after work and well...... sometimes you're the windshield and today I'm the bug. Had planned on doing 5-6, but packed it in at 4 miles, when I finally conceded that the fatigue and tightness wasn't going to get any better. At least my knee, which had been bugging me a bit for the last 2 days, felt fine when I ran and fine afterward. No matter.... will see what tomorrow brings!

My running club had their awards dinner last night too OM. I always have a way better time than I think I'm going to have. It was the also the 40th anniversary of the club's founding. They discussed the milestones; two I did not know. We're the second largest running club in the US (after NY), and we founded Hood to Coast.

Speaking of HTC, my team captain got back from Egypt this morning. Horay!

Three recovery miles for me tonight, then leg exercises.

That's good news about your team captain, Lab, and that club dinner sounds cool. What a tradition.

Running is catching on here as hundreds of people are showing up at the training runs for the Memorial Marathon 5/1.

Swimming is catching on in my life. I told Brooke earlier today I thought the 45 minutes she had scheduled for me would be a struggle. As it turns out, it went by much faster than I thought! I had a few moments where it was like yoga, just breathing, being in gentle motion. Then I would get water in my nose or something. You know how chatty I am with runners but I'm not that way around swimmers. I actually spoke with the guy sharing my lane for a minute. We were griping about the lady taking up a lane, playing with her kids. Anyway, I felt a lot better when I was swimming than when I had to drag my sorry a$$ out of the pool. Rinsed off, changed and ran 3 miles.

I was so excited to see it hit 20° on my car thermometer, I couldn't wait to change and get out there! So... temp had actually dropped some by the time I did get out, but I ran 4 hilly miles in about 17° temps and it was great! There was a point when my tired legs complained about that last hill, but I didn't stop once. That's an accomplishment! After the weekend of running I had, and the leg work I did at the gym at lunch, I'm pretty pleased with getting this run in with no stops on the big hill. 4 miles, 34 minutes for 8:30 avg pace (averages are funny though... first mile was almost 9, last two were under 8:20...).

Billy Idol's music is really pretty tame compared to his spiky hair and snarl.
