ooof. I haven't run all week. A mile here or there during GOTR, but otherwise, nuthin. I am heading out soon and have about an hour. We'll see.

Missy and Maria - have a great time with the 5K.

I don't remember any major hill at mile 2 TCM. Hmmm. Mile 2 was actually my fastest mile (7:30). Ack, the heat did me in that day. By mile15 I was toast. So enjoy your perfect temps!

Crane - it was upper 20s for Chicago last year and I ran in running skirt, tank and arm sleeves. Was very comfy the whole time.

Hi Mindi. You probably needed a low-key week! Your 5ks sound fun this weekend. Glad to see your boys love racing so much!

Greetings, all.

I'd planned on getting up at 6AM to get some miles in before the work day. At 5:30, I decided sleep was more important. Ahh well. The miles will still be there this afternoon, I suppose.

Good morning, y'all. I didn't run yesterday. I could have, but I just felt too tired. I guess I'll do something easy tonight. Probably on the TM, since it's a monsoon out there today.

This is all I read from 2oh's post:

F*ck.

My achilles has been tight again this whole week. I don't know why -- I thought the PT and Graston stuff was supposed to improve my situation. I've been waking up in the morning and my gait is altered because of the tightness. I've been wearing my running shoes to work (that's a good look ) and usually after a while it's not an issue, but to be dealing with tightness all over again is ridiculous. I talked to my PT about it the other day, but I'm not sure she has any answers, either. This tightness is in the higher achilles area - where I've felt it before -- not even in my calf where the "partial tear" is/was. Grr.

I biked for an hour yesterday.

Today, more PT.

My back was grumpy this morning, so I didn't run. I'm not sure whether to try to run tomorrow or not, with the 5k on Sat. I guess it doesn't matter, since I don't have a time goal.

some snarky bastage set a wake up call for 3AM on my room this AM. anyone gonna fess up to that?

and my hotel alarm clock malfunctioned - i swore i triple checked that little SOB so the alarm was set for just before 6.

nope. i woke up quite a bit later but i still went out for a hilly little 5.6 miler in between the raindrops. yeah, i was a little late for work this AM but i was up until past midnight getting things done for the man. i'm justified in being late, right?

last week was a more-beers-than-mileage week. i think the beers won by a touchdown, safety and a fieldgoal. final score was about 24-12.

i forgot to say good morning to cindi and mindi this AM...so good mornin'.

i have no clue what my monthly mileage was.

boB...what's on your mind?

i'm supposed to be on a boat tomorrow but those 50 mph winds or 9-12 foot seas don't look to inviting. yes, i'll using my boat pole.

all over the map with this post....

cheers

tim, hoping your next run goes much much better!

lora, continued healing vibes to you.

maria, ridiculously excited to see you and run with you this sat!!

can you imagine one day, paula and kara's sons racing one another? wouldn't that be cool?? plus, it seems like most people are pretty pissed re: ryan hall's dropping out of chicago. is the general thought that he is wussing out b/c his reasons for dropping out are not injury related but rather fitness/ overtraining? or is it b/c he made the decision so late?

i'll be in chicago 3 days after the marathon - so pissed we aren't going to be there for marathon weekend!

i ran 2.07ish miles yesterday evening and would have gone further if not for a mean, nasty side stitch. i've been getting them with each run which is no fun - i think it has to do with lack of abdominal tone. my stomach muscles are so far stretched out that they are not supporting my core when i run. damn. really should have started doing core exercises a lot earlier - opps. kp/t have any thoughts or heard of something like this happening?

Morning. Little bit longer run than I wanted last night. Forgot to make a turn and ended up running over 15 super hilly miles. Eek. It was a little warm and we didn't have water. I was super dehydrated at the end, but my calves weren't cramping like they normally would. Hmmmm, maybe those compression socks are working.

Bob - Since you're in town tomorrow sorta early. Did you want to get a little run in the afternoon before the game in? Maybe three miles or so?

Lora - Hang in there. It has to get better right? I feel bad for you. Hopefully it's all resolved soon.

3 easy. Puts me at 102 for the month. Ready for TCM.

Re: Hall/Chicago...most likely due to timing and lack of injury. Remember Salazar/Rupp caught shit back in the spring for potentially pulling the plug on a 10k record effort due to the conditions.

side stitch - there's no known cause for side-stitches as far as I know...one of those medical mysteries. But it could easily be related to core strength.

Solar - have the PT focus on where you're feeling the tightness. The tear above could be altering how the rest of the muscle functions.

Duck! Nice to see the gang at Slocum have duck colors for your cast!

Yeah, that sounds good. Of course, what time I come in might depend on the weather. It's nasty here, and it might still be nasty tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm late. Maybe a bunch of hours late. We'll see, and I'll keep you guys posted...
