<p>8 or so years ago my [100lb] shepherd and I walked out the back door & down the driveway to go for a walk. Our driveway runs along our house on the left side. Our [former, very large] mail carrier was cutting across our front yard from the right side, so we didn't know he was there, and we all got to the front left corner of the house at the same time.</p>

<p>Of course Gustav went apeshit. It was the first time I'd ever seen him go into serious protective get-away-from-my-favorite-person mode. He was on a leash, so he couldn't get to the guy, but still it was impressive.</p>

<p>Haven't seen that mailman since.</p>

<p><strong><em>He's pretty much a moron 80% of the time with 20% being doggy brilliance - hence his many nicknames...  ShortBus, Dumbleberry, Turdmuncher....  he's sharp as a tack at times but prone to repeating things that get him in trouble.</em></strong></p>
