No running, but I couldn't let the 40F+ weather this morning go by, so I went into the rec center at my regular time and then took a brisk 2-mile walk along my usual morning running route. It was fun, even though foggy and misty, and the wet ground had that earthy smell of Spring to it (but way too early to think about that!). I even fired up my Forerunner just so it felt a little bit like doing my morning run.

JJJ, I'm generally proud of my Scottish heritage, other than for having as national symbols kilts, bagpipes, and thistles!

I ran 5 miles this morning...light snow fell in the light of my headlamp. It was really nice to be outside in warmish temps (almost 30F)...not too icy either.

JJJ, kilts for men actually seem more logical than they do for women. Still, it takes a man with a strong sense of himself to wear one in this country. You're an original.

jjj - I suspect an avatar change is in your future?

TW - prayed for your family this morning on my run. SS too! And batman and Munch

Breger - don't leave

Roch- glad you could get out - I'm sure your garmin was getting a bit edgy too

RuninB - sounds like a fun run. I need to get a headlamp one of these days. It's pretty dark where I run in the mornings. 70 degress and 95% humid this morning. couldn't find one snowflake!

6.5 easy this morning 7:48's. Tomorrow temps are to be 25 degrees colder in the morning.

Pictures, JJJ! We want pictures!!!!!!!!!

This morning I was dragging big time but I hauled my butt to the gym and walked 1 mile w/u & c/d, and ran 3 miles. It was torture, every single step. None of my distraction tricks worked at all. But I finished it, stretched, & cooled off. Now I feel better. (the bagel & coffee afterwards helped a lot too).

Have a great day all. It's supposed to hit close to 60 tomorrow (!), but rain heavily all week. Yesterday we had snow almost all day.

Happy morning runs and workouts everyone!

JJJ, the kilt sounds like fun! Pictures!

I must put on the "burqha" right now and go vote with the Huz since it's super Tuesday. He said in America the wife votes the same as the husband . I'm not FOB, but he's gotten strange lately, saying things like "power to the people" so it's best to comply with his wishes! I'll go running after work because of this ritual.

Your wish is my command, sir.

JJJ, awaiting pics with bated breath.

I can't get out for my run before evening, by which time another front will be blowing in. Le Rats. Hills are on the menu today.

Yes, I want to see pictures too!!

10.5 miles w/ 5 @ MP (well, 3 faster, 2 slower). I am terrible at pacing! I have the old Garmin201 and the ongoing pace is wacky. I have got to work on running more consistently!

When I PR'D in Hartford, I ran with a pace leader and loved it! Maybe it's time for a newer, improved Garmin.

Anyway, almost beat the rain. Caught me on the last 1/2 mile home. Now it's pouring! Better than snow I guess.

Have a great day!

Dromedary, guess I'm not American, then! I'm not a Scot, either, but I'm willing to try a kilt sometime.

I had a good run last night. Won't have time today so I'll post it here. Did 48 minutes on some pretty flat neighborhood roads. Once again, a little furball found me, but this was a different one who didn't act like he wanted to attach himself to my shoe. He stayed with me a long time, which was fine as long as he was alongside but made me nervous when he fell in behind. At the end I turned onto the main road and down a big hill, then did 5 repeats up the hill, something new I had read about in RW. 10 seconds up, 2 minutes walking down. Sport Tracks says I was at a 3-6% grade, depending on where I started. I wasn't tired, and in fact it didn't even phase me. Maybe I should have done them longer or jogged inbetween. When I got home, I tried something else new, a Shiraz wine. Very good.

Breenger, kilts, like sarongs, are optional here, but proper spelling is mandatory.

I enjoyed the same warm (for us) weather as roch did, 40F and heavy overcast with slushy puddles and trickles of snowmelt. After a 10-min warmup on the elliptical--glad to work in round numbers again, instead of VRAA-motivated multiples of three--I did 5-ish at 9:00-ish, splooshing down to the river and along a wooded trail, silent and gray under winter's blanket, that I hadn't visited in months. Nice. I need to get out more.

Then a passel of planks, a plenitude of pushups, a sackful of situps, and a lot of lunges.

and to think I thought it was Fat Tuesday....

Ode to my Kilt

The Men
"Ho, there, yonder gent, do you
Sport a skirt, plaid green and blue?
No manner man are you, I guess,
To strut your stuff clad in a dress."

The Reply
"Clad in plaid? Aye, without shame!
But sport a skirt or dress of dame?
Nay! Fie for shame, your willie wilt,
For denigrating this man's kilt!"

The Ladies
"Look girls, a man who's man enough
To wear a mini! And his stuff
Is all expose-ed to the air!
I wonder what is under there..."

The Reply
"Under where? Or underwear!
This secret to my grave I'll bear.
Good girls don't ask. Good guys don't tell.
But bad girls find out for themselves."

(or)

So you can ask, you can say please
Or wait and watch for errant breeze."

The Balls
"Joy! From the denim dungeon freed!
We've not been so pleased since we peed
Outside, our mid-phalange unfurled
Against the civil, sterile world."

The Reply
"Enjoy the short-lived freedom, boys,
your airy, unrestricted joys.
For, alas, this day must end.
and I must sheath you from the wind."
Well, I happen to fancy a man in a kilt, sarong, straight, A-line, pleated, bubble, circle, hobble, poodle, dirndl, prairie, mini, broomstick, flouncy, sequined, crinolined (scratch, scratch). Just not too, too long, please, or you'll have me in a fankle. I love thistles and bagpipes too.

I think it's time for some avatar changes, gents. Don't be shy!

ksrunr ??? Everything's okay with me.
Hi, runin!
tomwhite, you're pure gallus. A couthie soul if ever there was. Nothing like greeting the day with pipes.

Morning, All!

Besom SS

ETA: I love it: Tammy, choovie and I all thinking the same prurient thoughts at the same time.

Aye Laddie! It's a beautiful sight to behold when a bevy of runners in kilts goes flying by. Unfortunately, since the operation my doctor prescribes more support than a kilt can provide. Is it bad form to wear MUGs with a kilt?

Anyway, 8 miles this morning on a hilly course through heavy rain, some sleet. There were a lot of goofy strides used to avoid the larger puddles. 1:09:12, 8:39 pace. It's so strange how that pace seemed EZ yesterday, and today it was a lot of work.

Vote early and often!

you'll get better feedback on that question if you post a pic first Mike. . .
