I'm stoked. I had much more fun watching my son do a triathlon on Sunday. The best part is I think he had fun doing it too.

My 7 year old did his first kids triathlon.

It was a great day, he finished and he had a smile on his face for every stage of the race.

Unfortunately he has his dads athletic ability, but he has many years to improve on that if he decides to. I plan to encourage that as much as possible. Gotta try and keep him healthy and try to keep him from being the fat kid like his old man was.

They did the swim in the shallows, and it was actually too shallow for him to swim. One little kid actually ran half of the swim distance before he got into deep enough water that he had to swim. Next time we will know to start him further out into the water away from the shore.

Poor kid had issues getting his shoes and socks on though. His feet being wet and all gave him issues with the socks.

Then I slowed him down a bit. I put his helmet on his bike seat and the strap got hooked under it and he couldn't get it off the seat.

They don't allow parents into the transition area to help, so finally a volunteer managed to get over to him and give him a hand untangling the helmet.

He didn't give up though, he looked determined to run out of transition and hop on the bike.

He was very excited to get to run the race by himself. Everything else he had done has been with me running next to him.

Right around minute 1 in the video is the cutest thing. There is a little girl who rides out of transition and she still has training wheels on her bike. It was adorable.
