If you haven't checked out the Kickrunner Cookbook forum lately, there are A LOT more recipes because of several recent initiatives.

meri, do you think there are enough recipes now for the project? If not, where are we still lacking? Carla was great and copied a few threads over from some of the Club forums, but since they're a little older, you may have to look down the page.

Also, I just want to bring up again that we should be careful of copyright rules. Most of the recipes "belong" to our members (even through modification), but if the post mentions that the recipe is from a cookbook or show, we probably shouldn't use it. I think we'd be safe if we were making a not-for-profit cookbook, but technically this one is for-profit. But I'm no expert on this; I'll PM Diane and ask her.

i have not compiled in a while, before, when i compiled what was in there, it was mostly soups, desserts and some main entrees and some appetizers. It was really uneven in what was in it. When i get some free time again i will add to what i have and let you know.

Good morning,
Diane was kind enough to give some advice, with a caveat that she doesn't specialize in intellectual property law.

If we use any recipes that were "borrowed" from another source, such as a book or online recipe or program, we do put ourselves at risk for a lawsuit. In fact, this would even be the case with not-for-profit projects such as church cookbooks. (She said they get away with it b/c they're generally regional and not seen by the copyright holders.)

So if the recipes specifically state that they're from another source, and haven't been changed by their poster, we'd be better off not using them.

All of mine that are on that forum have their sources listed if they are from a book. Good idea to check though!

ok. now i gotta go back through them all. I may have to start from scratch, which may be easier. Unfortunately, when i first started, it was around the holidays and i had free time at work, right now, i have minimal free time, but i think i got the process down that i can do a second version quicker.

meri, do you want me to help you in some way? I will tell you that if the project takes a little while and goes into April, I'll be on maternity leave then and have lots of time to help.

How about i see how much i can do until then and then we can work on it together or you can take over? It is just time consuming to compile and organize the recipes, but i made i found an easier way recently to do it. Its just a matter of sitting down and doing it now
