QUESTIONS

1. Why do you run? I don’t think you could call it running just yet! I haven’t ran since I was a teenager. I do Pilates and ride my bike to stay in shape but I want more than anything to be a runner again. I remember how natural it was then- almost effortless. Now it is a different story indeed! I’m so inspired by all the great stories and people on this site and am using that to light a fire under my butt to stick with it. I try to run a few times a week- but I still don’t like it and I still don’t feel good doing it. I can’t manage my breathing either and it frustrates me because I do so well in other sports. My sister keeps telling me to give it time and it will happen. I can’t wait for that! I live in a very rural area- lots of farms, ranches, etc. and all the roads are dirt and hilly- yes, hilly. Even though I live in FL, the area I live isn’t flat like people usually think. Running over here is a workout indeed! I have so much respect for all of you when I read about your runs. It is so impressive to me to see how the times improve and the goals get bigger- very inspirational and I plan to remember these things to help motivate me. So many stories here have been wonderful and inspiring.
2. What is your greatest accomplishment? By far it has been raising an absolutely wonderful son. He’s now 14 and an amazing person with impressive goals. I feel blessed daily and hope to do an equally awesome job with my 19 month old daughter.
3. What is your motto/theme song? “You Gotta Be” by Des’Ree ……
Every time I hear that song- I just feel good. I just feel inspired to have a good day and make the most of life.
4. How do you deal with bad runs? Almost every run for me is not great unfortunately. Right now when I run/ jog- most of the time I am asking myself why the hell am I torturing myself like this and when will I be able to breathe better and run and smile at the same time. I’m not asking for much, am I? I need to be more consistent.
5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How? When I have a good run- I will be ecstatic! I have no idea how I’ll reward myself but you can be certain, it will be good.
6. Who do you admire most? This is easy- my sister of course. Several reasons- she is an extremely strong person and a great mother and teacher. She has determination to always achieve her goals and works hard at being the best she can be. She is grounded and has a good head on her shoulders. Losing 2 sisters in my life has been hard but knowing I have her- makes the relationship we share so much more than what a lot people could even imagine unless they have been through what we have. She makes me laugh and laughs at all of my jokes- we have so many inside jokes that we could write a book but only we would understand it! I adore her and am thankful we found each other. We talk 3-4 times a day- almost every day and even though we are states away from each other- it is like we are together all the time. Words can’t express enough my devotion and love for her and what an amazing accomplishment it is to have built such a wonderful strong relationship through the years. She is my rock.
7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received? Don’t sweat the small stuff. It isn’t that life is too short- it’s that you are dead for so long- so no worries.
8. What do wish you had learned younger? See above. Would have saved me a lot of over emotional drama queen moments that were totally unnecessary! Now when things irritate me, I blow it off when before I would just blow up. That’s just silly and a waste of time. I’m glad I finally learned that behavior and now I don’t let little things get to me at all.
9. What do you wish you could do but can't? I wish I could play the violin or piano. I also wish I could sew. Damn. I wish I would have inherited that gene. I can barely sew a button but I manage.
10. How would your friends describe your personality? Funny, sincere, witty, goofy, smart
11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit? Anything comfy- usually a bra tank top and shorts. I pay no attention- I just get dressed.
12. What has been your favorite race? I‘ve never entered one! Although I plan on figuring that out and setting a goal. Maybe a New Years 5k
13. Do you have a goal race right now? Workin on it…..no pressure.
14. What makes you happy? My family- my daughter with her daddy- amazing to see them together and I love them both to pieces! They adore each other and it always makes me smile. I love when my son accomplishes more of his goals and has this complete self satisfaction look on his face- priceless. He has so much strength and confidence- good traits to have- especially as a teenager! I love when I visit my sister and we spend over half our time together floating on the lake, listening to music and fishing! We like to surf on our rafts and act like we’re 10 and kayak all over the lake. I love watching our children play together. I also love to drive and listen to a great CD- open the sunroof and just cruise along.
15. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past. I am a compulsive cleaner. I can’t even handle one dirty dish in the sink. Ever. I love cooking- I cook big dinners every night and my kitchen stays immaculate as I cook- no one can figure out how I manage that. I can’t relax until everything is orderly. There’s a place for everything and everything in its place.
16. Tell us one interesting thing about another user of this forum that has not been posted (at least not often) on this forum in the past (make sure the other person will not object to posting the info!). My sister once peed on a bush while out for a run and didn’t realize it was in someone’s front yard until a car drove by- it was still dark outside. When you gotta go- you gotta go! I could say so many things but I won’t. She might shove my head up a turkey butt.

Where is the hill in Florida?? I think I saw one north of Destin once, but it may have been a big dog.

Great POTD, Kasieee!! I love how you just throw clothes on for your run. I'm like that too. I have a friend that her shirts match the shoes she's wearing that day. Gag! What does it matter what you wear??

Oh, and I love how close you and your sister are. Even though you tease each other mercifully, you still love each other. I wish I had relationships like that.
