Good to hear Tithers...You will love Tempe!!! If you want some poop on IMAZ or Tempe, I can let you know both. I live 12 miles south of the lake, and lived here for 14+ years.

Sorry, I'm not terribly fast but I'm working on that for this April. November is verrrrryyyyyy nice weather wise, lows in the mid to upper 50s, highs in the 70s, very mild weather, not like the crazy weather during the spring.

Link to the lake weather monitor.

http://www.tempe.gov/wx/TownLake.aspx

So Mikey...I had this discussion w/Sheldon yesterday...so help me out...I told them IMAZ is in November now b/c the wind situation is better.

He said "But yah-it's the desert...you'll it'll be WINDY"
then I said "But yah-they said the winds will be better"

So-are the winds better in November?

BTW...you need to pose for a photo with a bike...my bike's name is Mikey.

Last year in April winds were 25+ mph on the bike course coming back into Tempe from the turnaround. Serious! I averaged 26 mph on the outbound leg and 11 mph on the inbound leg for the last of 3 laps. Springtime in AZ is that way, one day can be really nice, like registration day before the race. Sunday was wind from hell day. Fall is really calm and and without the bizarre weather like spring. Be prepared, there is no humidity like Hawtlanta.

Be glad to pose with Mikey, I'm man enough for that!!

Mikey

I moved to OR from AZ 3 years ago. Spent 8 years in AZ after college working down in Ocotillo. Lived in one of the historic districts in Phoenix off Thomas & 7th St. I still don't think I could do the IMAZ course. I hate that they turn you around before Beeline get scenic.

If I can handle the boringness of the IMFL course (Sheldon wouldn't let me look at anything besides the road anyways) I can handle IMAZ...I hate loops though.

Hi Stitcher - I live near the New Chandler Fashion Square (101 and Chandler) and work in Tempe. This is the truly nice time of year here.

As you and hobey know, August isn't the best time to be logging in 4~5 hour rides out here, lest you be nibbled by the monsoon devils!

Actually the bike course works from the perspective you get into town to get love from the crowd, then t2, and the whole run course is around the lake. There's only a blank spot or two on the run where you think you are far from life.

As Hobey and Stitcher know, the lake isn't what you'd call very clear. Actually the water visability is really poor and you start heading right into the sun at cannon start. Water temp is nice for either IMAZ.

Go Sun Devils!!
