Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I had planned on an easy 4-miler this morning, but 2 things conspired to make me go longer:

1. My internet connection was down. So, I had nothing to do during my usual 1/2 hour sipping coffee and surfing...
2. The weather: another gorgeous January morning! 52 degrees!

So, I started warming up far earlier than usual and then hit the road. So nice to not have to wear a jacket, or gloves, or ear warmers!

I got in 6.22 miles in 56:56 (9:08 pace). If I didn't have a darned early morning meeting, I'd have gone farther! Now I'm off to do some pushups.

--Robin

Nothing gorgeous about the cold 30mph winds we're having this morning. But I'm still in recovery mode so 2 very easy miles on the indoor track were just what I had planned. No pain in my leg and just a slight ache in the glute, so I should be able to try a regular outdoor run on Friday and maybe the weekend as well.

Have a nice day, everyone!

I haven't been on for the last couple of days 'cause work is kicking my butt right now! I was going to get in a 3-4 mile run yesterday but settled for a couple of miles walking throughout the day. I got home yesterday and felt a little run down and with just getting over that cold virus I decided to bag it. Feeling a little bit better today, so if I'm it works out I'll put in a good 4 miles this afternoon.

Oh boy! the guys are going to have fun in this glorious day looking at Robin's avatar as a thread starter for today. Way to go on the 6 miler Robin.

Great 10 miler millbot...how is the hammy doing and... how is the "halo" fitting on your head?

TomWhite- of course walking daintily counts...coming from you it should count as triple jiji.

A well deserved REST day today. Yoga class last night did wonders to my body and my mind.

Thanks for starting us off Robin. Seeing your avatar first thing in the early morning is a very nice way to start the day.

After three consecutive days running, I need a day off from my comeback attempt. So no run today, but I did my normal 50 push-ups this morning. Btw millbot, those are 50 in a row, done slowly with no stopping. If I do them too quickly, I hyperventilate. I have a feeling though that you can do a lot more than me!

Global warming does weird things to the weather. It's warmer in Mass. than here (37 now). Another windy day, just to make sure my Daniels Quality Run is sufficiently challenging. I'll slip into my tights after work. Now that would make an interesting avatar, huh? Mustang Sally, I hope you feel better. No worries. It's just an 8k fitness-benchmark-run, okay? It'll be fun-otherwise, why bother?

Scheduled rest day for me (I have ambulance duty and then work) so all I can claim is 15 mins of stretching & PT exercises. Tomorrow I'll be running again.

BTW, I'll be away from Fri-Tues but will try to post when I can. Library conference in Philly. Was hoping to see Choovie but she's attending a different lib. conference next month or so instead.

Thanks, Opie. I'm still a little bummed, but, hey. I got my Eugene training plan from Coach and this 8K doesn't even rate "C" race status, so I'm taking it down a few pegs in my mind. With luck, Thursday's track session will feel better. Am eating simple bland food in hopes that my tummy was upset with me for more reasons than just "We doesn't like Mount Doug." Have fun running after work. Please feel free to share new avatar at your earliest convenience.

Will swim at lunchtime.

Hey there -

Mariposa girl - as much as I enjoy Robin's avatar, it's got nothing on yours

tomwhite .... doddering is fine.

In honor of Econo, I did my tempo work today .... the last 7 miles of a 12 miler. As soon as I finished I ran into the house and looked at my schedule beacuse at about the 5th tempo mile I somehow got it into my head that I was supposed to do 8 tempo miles. Luckily it read 12 w/ 7 .... whew!

Have a lovely day
Good Morning Kicksters! Lots of activity this morning, thanks for starting Robin and nice run.

Speaking of hump day; I get all the fires going in the house, get on the internet to check my email. What is the deal about turning 60, for the past year I have been getting nearly daily emails selling various male enhancement products, viagra etc.

I am trying to understand the problem with growing older, younger folks ignore me, humor me in some condesending way. Not as many older folks around to be a mentor to me. Younger folks want to mentor the older guy as they figure that we are stupid, frail and can't take care of ourselves. Shall I rant on?

Anyway, back to todays viagra email, from perfectready.com. "red still glowed upon the western horizon, like a slash across the sky. Gilly said that the drink was Lem?oars. She was drenched in sweat, burning, yet somehow shivering too. The fog was full of faces. Lord of Harrenhal, he seemed in no great haste to occupy his new seat, so it had fallen to Jaime"

I was curious, and clicked on the site. Every type color, shape etc. of pills that was supposed to effect "that certain part of the male anatomy'
After a moment of chuckeling I decided it was time to fight back! While clicking on "Contact Us", my mind was filled with youngster thoughts. I began to type a very suggestive note explaining why they needed to take me off thier mailing list. I won't say what I said, but depending on who opens the note, I could be getting a love letter soon. There are advantages to running that most of us don't talk about.

Off to my run, Larry
