Hey funmeisters! I have some coffee and am contemplating whether I should use this sandwich maker thingy for a quick omelette. I don't have much time though since my start time for work is 8:30 at the latest. Eek.

Congrats again Nettie!!!

Fun WIP!!! Yay for your brother!

Not fun: got a call from Dh a few minutes ago. Could tell from his voice that something was wrong. "So.... what time are your appointments this morning?" He locked his keys in his car. With the car running. He works an hour away, and I don't have 2+ hours to take him a set of keys & can of gas. "Did you call AAA?"

Nope. Didn't occur to him. So he is calling them, and I don't have to drive out there. yay!

So yah. I have an interview at noon for a job I don't want that I'm only half way qualified for. Not sure how I got the interview, but I feel like, since I haven't received an offer from the printer yet, that I need to do it. UG. At least it's just a phone thing with the recruiter. That's not as bad. I'm not at all prepared.

i'm reading boring infant sleep stuff by elizabeth pantley who is the anti- CIO advocate. just trying to see what all of my options for sleep training entail.

    another doctor's appointment this afternoon.

oh! did i mention that AK's GI doc thinks she may have a dairy and soy allergy? so, i'm cutting out both for 4-6 weeks to see if it helps. and uhm, people? did you know that soy is in practically EVERY friggin' thing?? not to mention that it is a staple in asian cooking. thankfully, i found a few resources with recipes that are dairy and soy free. still not easy, however. i went to whole foods and bought out their entire gluten free section (some of it also is dairy and soy free) which was mucho expensive. i totally took shoveling food into my mouth for granted without looking at labels so this is providing me some perspective.

Super fun date with The Guy last night. We went to this venerable Irish pub near my house (it's been in a bunch of films about Boston, like Mystic River), for Trivia night. Lost spectacularly...but it was still fun.

QOD: I just finished The Help too, Wippy. I'm reading (for book group) Why the Dreyfus Affair Matters (ahem...I've taken it out of the library anyway), and also How I Became a Famous Novelist. The latter is ok. Before those, I read Aunt Dimity's Death, which is a cozy mystery, first in a series, which I LOVED.

QOD: Reading? I remember that activity (and miss it, actually) I listened to The Appeal by John Grisham on CD during our road trip, but that's the closest I've been to an adult book in longer than I care to admit. I need to fix that.

Can I just tell you I'm getting really good at BS-ing my way through these interviews? I really have no interest in the job I just interviewed for, but they are really impressed with my experience. Their big concern is that I've not worked in their industry. That's about it though. I should hear from them in a week if they want to take things further. So hopefully I'll hear from the printer before then and I can tell them to suck it. [kidding!]

Thanks, and I was just thinking about the bird blanket yesterday! I worked a bunch of rows of dark gray around because I was going to make a thick border, but I think I like it better with just a row or 2. Which means I need to rip a bunch out. And I still haven't woven in the ends yet. So there's that too. It's been on the guest bed for the last couple months, so out of site out of mind.

Missy - jesus I hope things get better for AK!!! And I know I know nothing about this but a very good friend of mine had some of the same problems with their second child. The day they switched to formula the problems ended. Keep plugging away, you'll figure it out.

I took Evelyn to the doc today for her one year check up and needles. One needle in each arm, one in each leg. Ouch. Poor girl was NOT impressed. She weighs about 20 lbs. That's about all I got out of the whole check up. Oh, and that she appears healthy and happy. So that's all good.

I didn't want to say too much, so as not to jinx it, but she's been sleeping through the night for the past couple of weeks. We finally bit the bullet and did that whole Ferberize thing with her (I think that's how it's spelled...and I always think of Febreeze when I see it...like you have to spray the baby with Febreeze when she cries...like you spray a cat when you're trying to teach it to stay out of something...horrible, I know...but my brain works in weird ways at times). Anyway, the first couple of nights were rougher than usual but eventually she started to get better. Now she'll still wake up a bit at times, but she usually goes back to sleep within a minute or two. I hope as time goes by she gets the hang of it.

Ach! It's alright. I was told that I did very well in the competition but that they went with someone else who...well...did better. I made The List though. Which means, I qualify for jobs at that level, which is a significant jump from my present level. It could mean that the powers that be will take another look at my capabilities. Then again, it could all mean nothing. Whatever. I knew the outcome on the 23rd of December even if I wasn't officially told. I've had time to put it behind me.

QOD: I'm reading Inkheart of all things. I just finished The Lost Symbol, which I really enjoyed. I'm not sure what I will read next.
