Woke up at 5 AM for the first time in over a year. Started Hal's winter training plan today. It doesn't seem too bad, but did you know that I didn't run for 3 whole months and before that I was averaging about 15 miles/week?! :(

So, 15 min (1.31 miles) + weight training/

Welcome back to the running world, Nettie!

Urf, I threw out my back yesterday. Again. I do this a couple of times per year. I don't know exactly when it happened. I ran 5 miles yesterday, but I also did some other stuff that could've affected it. I crawled under a sink to replace a faucet, I shoveled the rest of the driveway, and I crawled around the attic laying down some more insulation. Somewhere along the way, I tweaked my back good. I definitely won't be running today...

Yeah for getting back at it, Nettie! Are you in MN now? What are you training for? You gonna do one of the winter carnival races on January 29th?

That is exactly why I try to avoid that type of work, Bob!

No worries, Theia. Plenty of time to get back to it this year!

I got 3 recovery miles done this morning and will do weights and some biking on the lunch hour.

Good runs to all today.

I did 7.5 yesterday and 7 on Saturday. The Saturday miles went significantly better. Yesterday I just couldn't shake a side ache almost the entire run...boo. Lifted last night. I swear that my muscles will rip from my bones one of these days

I am in MN now. Moved here on Thursday. I am ultimately training for TCM. I had to Google winter carnival to see what it was. :) I don't if I will do it. I will likely register on race day if I do. It would just be the 5K. Will you be there?

Skipped my long run yesterday. Slackerific start to the new year.

Me too. I actually got out there and about a mile in I started to freak out about some upcoming deadlines and the amount of work I had to do. So I hightailed it home and worked until almost 9:00 pm last night. It was the right decision, but I am feeling very down on myself for how bad I have been at trying to stick with my schedule. So much for an extended marathon training season. I haven't even gotten up to 35 mpw yet. Sheesh. I know I still have plenty of time. BUT.I.MUST.STOP.SLACKING.

Good afternoon all! I totally snoozed the hell outta my alarm this morning and on the first day when I was going to try and snooze just once and get up. Fail. Craps. Will run this evening after work, going to try and inject some more mileage into this week and may even jump into a longer run this weekend.

Nettie - are you living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area? Or further out?

boB - get that back better soon. BTW, I thought the attic insulation was a 2010 project? Slacker!

Mindi and Alexis - don't beat yourselves up too much, Sunday felt like a good reset kind of day esp with returning to work today.

Brandy - is the back better now?

Just finished a 30 minute run on the treadmill with 5 mins walking at the end. I'm so surprised how this is working out. It took me months and months and months before I could run 30 minutes solid. Even when I was ready to run a half I had trouble running that long without stopping at least once. My speed is much slower but honestly, i think I would rather run slow and solid then run faster and have to stop to breath. As I type this out, it dawns on me that maybe that was the point all along... I'm not blond for nothing folks. Anyway, I'm happy.

Theia: I have to say, I never understood why people start their resolutions or goals or whatever during the New Year's break. It doesn't make much sense. They aren't in their normal routine and we all know that we make exceptions when we are on vacation or out of our normal routine. Personally, I think it is ingenious of you to have waited. You'll get there. I have faith.

Hi all - starting to get back in a groove again. Friday I ran, Saturday I yoga'ed, Sunday I went to the gym and ran and did some weights. Today I'll run again, provided my hammies (which ALWAYS get sore after doing some deadlifts) don't bark at me too much. Otherwise, I might yoga again

Yes, not 100% but pretty close. I actually lifted something close to my normal weight with the trainer last night (for lower back)

Hey Kids!

Welcome back, Nettie!

Bob, too bad we aren't closer, we could whine about our backs together! Feel better! I'm still a hurting puppy, I really-really-really hope this clears up back to my normal level of functional pain soon. The good news is that my leg hasn't been going numb! I didn't even realize that until today, I've been too focused on what hurts. So, that's nice progress!

9 recovery paced miles this morning. Oof, it was huuuuuumid out, felt like summer. I think things are going to cool off just a tad in the mornings for the rest of week even though the highs will be around 80, so that should make things better.

Yeah, Nettie!!! Great to see you posting some running!

I was thinking that I'd take today off as a rest day since 1) I haven't taken a full rest day since last Monday (and that was a day full of shoveling tons of snow!) and 2) I had to wake up and eat breakfast before 6am, which is something I haven't done since December 23rd. And I figured I'd be super tired by the end of the work day.

HOWEVER, it was super sunny out when I got home from work so I did a little 4 mile run

6 miles at the end of the day today. Not a fan of running that late, but with the practice schedules this week that will be the only time I'll be able to run. Actually looking forward to classes starting next week for a bit of return to normalcy.

Nice to see ya back around here Nettie!!
