Can anyone explain why some of the CD's bought from iTunes burn to an actual CD at a lower volume then a CD you would buy at a store? I've noticed this on a few but not all CD's I've bought through iTunes. How do you know if you need to boost the song volume before you burn until after you burn it and play it (which is a waste!)

I'm not iTunes expert, but I think there is a setting under preferences for Soundcheck. Enable that for all your music and it should even out the volume (or gain) on each track.

ETA: Some artists and/or producers set the gain higher on some tracks (or entire albums). A song with gain set higher will be louder when played at the same volume setting on your playback device. It's a complete PITA, but the Soundcheck setting *should* sort that out for you.
