Sounds like a great workout day McSolar. Maybe you and I will be the only ones ont the thread today?

Does that mean I shouldn't post, then?

5.5 miles in 55:11.22, nothing special (other than the number doubling thing). Funny, this run actually felt faster than the Garmin told me it was, after the fact. Don't know what to make of that, oh well....

Happy Thursday, everyone, hope someone else joins the party soon!

I hit the gym during the thunderstorm last night.

On Tuesday my coach announced I shouldn't run again until my one mile race on Sunday.

Apparently I'm like a sharpened pencil and if I'm sharpened too much I'll break, which would be ugly.

But I'm going to get a few easy miles in tonight anyway.

Party OM? You're in charge of tunes, I'll bar-tend. Chemists can make some wicked cocktails. That's why I stick to beer and wine.

ksrunr, I'm more jittery than awake. I'm uber-caffeinated; I had two cups of coffee this morning! But I know when I eat lunch, I'm going to crash. Hard.

My plan this afternoon is to run 3 miles accelerating to 10K pace, my usual last run before a race. Hopefully preceded by a nap.

This should get the blood moving, smooth out those caffeine jitters and keep things nice and motivated into the afternoon.

Beeyooteeful day here! Now that it is officially Autumn, a heat wave is set to arrive.

Tonight I will run 6 miles after work, hopefully a little faster.

Lovely sunny day here in the Alps so my short ride turned into the best part of 60 mountain miles. Legs are tired now :¬)

This evening we ate in the local village where I used some piss poor French but hey I'm trying.

Tomorrows efforts will be easier I HOPE

Be well and have fun

G

I think even piss poor is appreciated, Gobi. It's worked for me in France, but not in the Alps, lucky guy. Some day!

Don't usually get caught up in numbers like OM, but it looks like mc is having a 7 kinda day.

Lab, maybe you need to be wrapped up in Ribs' Snuggie.

Gee, I thought all the racket coming from the blue herons' nest was going to be the high point of my run today, but it turned out to be trouble on the water. I wrote a separate thread about it.

1hr recovery run after yesterday's speedwork that I'm still pretty pleased about.

I just love that tune, OM!! Must get into iTunes tonight and get a copy for my running iPod!!

Envying Gobi's ride..... our QA Director did that trip last year with a colleague from our Belgian affiliate and still hasn't stopped talking about it!

Lab... I'll join you behind that bar.... same skill set!

Careful there, Bap!

4 EZPZ miles after work, same route as yesterday, only in reverse. Felt way better than yesterday, too!

Enjoy your day!

I took today off work. Wish I was in the Alps.

I haven't had a drop of caffeine today. I'm usually a quad shot morning drinker. It took some doing to get me moving today though. I went to the gym, did about an hour of weights, abs, stretching. And 25 min elliptical. Decided not to run today. Took a catnap in the sauna instead.

I guess I better start packing since I leave at 0730. I'm a notorious last minute packer.

See you all on Monday!

Flyby post to thank you for all of the Birthday Wishes yesterday. Hope Johnny & SS had a great birthday too.

tw, cycling is roughly $1 per mile cheaper than driving, so it's "save $14 day" today, which is just a piece of the "2010: the year of the miser" and which is in turn part of the current "how the hell am i going to send my daughter to college?" decade...

Some great runs done today. mc - that's a heck of a day for you. I'm exhausted thinking about it.

Today was a rare take-the-boss-golfing day. It was fun. Did weight training this morning and cut the grass before heading to the club. I'm on a mini taper - doing a half next w/e, so I'll settle in for a 11 miler tomorrow.

Will this get us to page two???

6 mi. in the rain. Awesome!

Plan was for a progression run, which I did, but not exactly as I'd hoped. Little too much intensity at mile 5, so I backed down until I got close to here and saw on Mr. Garmin that I might not break an hour so I hit the gas for a 59:54. Man, that felt good! To be honest, my foot probably won't be happy with me tomorrow but we'll see. Here are my 2-mile paces: 10:43, 10:05 and 9:13.

eta-I think I should just run easy for a while and a 9 pace isn't as easy out there as it was on the treadmill.

Great recovery S.S.!!

93°? In Ohio in September? May have been a record setting day and PERFECT racing weather!!! I did 4 or 5 races in June that were very hot but none hit 90 so this was my hottest race in a while. The race was near the Ohio State University so I didn't know what to expect. I drove around a while before I finally located the race start and found a parking space. I registered and ask about the course and was told it was 3 loops around the perimeter of the park on a bike path. This sounded less than exciting until I did my warmup. I discovered that they had signs every 1/4 mile on the path which was 1.054 miles total. There wasn't much to the race. I started out in 5th place and stayed there the whole race with nobody near front or back. I did end up 4th as one of the front guys dropped out with about a half mile to go. He said his back started bothering him too much to continue.

What was interesting was all of my splits were very consistent. I noticed during my warmup that the 3rd 1/4 mile was uphill and slower than the rest.

1st mile...1:27...1:28...1:37...1:30=6:02

.0541...:18

2nd mile...1:30...1:28...1:36...1:28=6:02

.0541...:18

3rd mile...1:26...1:28...1:36...1:28=5:58

another 4 seconds to finish gave me an 18:42 total time

irun- did you let the boss win?

Yeah Mike, did you let the boss win? My boss went to college on a golf scholarship, so I never have to worry about that.

tw, I think in mc's case, the question would reference cactus hugging, which is still probably less painful than sending your kid to college.

Good run Opie. You may be surprised that your foot feels better after a little bit of speed. My PF does. My PF does not like long, easy runs.

Nice race Rip. I smiled when you properly referred to it as the OSU.

I did my aforementioned 3 miler, with the last mile at ~ 6:40/mi, which I hope will be my average pace at Saturday's 10K. Followed by lots of foam rolling and stretching. I am worried that I may have caught some nasty bug after being stuck in airplanes most of yesterday, and suffering from sleep deprivation. I've just lost my voice, which is usually a precursor to something bad. Oh crap.
