It's been a (long) while since I popped in here. But since I've been lurking about for a few days, I thought I'd shake things up by starting the Monday thread - even though it won't be Monday here for an hour and a half. :)

I miss reading all the run, race, and life reports!

I've been in "not-training-for anything" mode for a long time now. Thought I was still in it. But a couple of weeks ago, while enjoying a nice beer with runner-friends, I was informed that I am, actually, signed up for a half marathon Nov 5th. Oops! I had completely forgotten about the "hey everyone, we need to sign up for this amazing trail half before it fills up!!!!!" facebook message. I had, indeed, hurriedly registered online - and forgot about it.

Now here I am, putting in 0 - 15 mile weeks. Oh dear. This week I got in 29 miles. But I'm still 30 (gasp) pounds over my marathon weight. Not that I was a skinny runner then either. I have discovered that I'm exactly 1 min/mile slower now than a year ago. But you know what? I don't really care. I'm having fun, running lots of trails, and going whatever pace feels right. I love the camaraderie of my running community, and hope to jump back into this wonderful online version! You all inspire and amuse me!

So, here's to a great Monday of running, all!

Hiya EV!!!! Great to see you back here, girl!!!

Don't hurt yourself on the build up for that half.... probably better to be a wee bit undertrained for it.

Have fun on the trails in the mean time!

I usually run Sat-Mon-Wed-Thur, but this last weekend threw me off schedule a bit, so will do a spin class today. They have a new Monday instructor I hear.... a guy for a change...... must go and check out the MAMILs!

ETA: Fantastic race yesterday HappyFeat!! Congrats on beating your goal time. Shame the half didn't get the attention it deserved.

Hi Em! What Heme said about he build up.

Heme - behave yourself; don't be too obvious

Bob - congrats on another 40 mile week

Started today off with an 11 mile run. I kept wondering why coach didn't call for a 10 or 12 mile run. Anyways a 8:15 pace avg. Suppose to hit 101 - 103 today without the index. oy

My hamstring was grumbling at every step so I decided to give it another day of rest.

You got it, Johnny - that's exactly what those 3 guys were - "inspiration." They were extremely nice and very cute. My sister Jen in Calif. told me last night she sent them to "help" me - wasn't that sweet! It's just the sorta thing she'd do.

So, the official results posted online today and my Garmin matches their chip time of 2:05.

I was the only one in my age group; came in 6th out of 10 in the Masters category, 56th out of 91 total entrants, and 34th out of 56 females.

So I'm pretty much in the middle of the pack now - movin' up

My biggest takeaway from this event was proving to myself how much I've learned this past year about running hills, managing my pace, paying attention to my posture, and how I use different muscles in running. I felt like I had the tools I needed to try and run faster than usual and not fall apart. It was a very good feeling.

Ran anyway after work and before spin class....just a couple to mark the placement of the turn signs and Km markers for the first 3K of my 5K on Thurs. Howard's spin class was one of the best I've ever taken.... great music and long hard climbs.

I'm getting really nervous about everything going smoothly for the race, hoping the rain is going to hold off and we can get access to the park when we need it. We learned this morning that the park we will do the 2nd and 3rd K will only be accessible 30 min before the race is to start, so I need to have my marshall know exactly where the signs go and where the turn around will be. He and I will walk it tomorrow so I can be sure he has it straight. We are now up to over 100 runners and walkers and almost $10,000 raised for United Way.

I did a fairly hard hour on the eliptical this evening. Still trying to decide whether to do shorter runs tue-thur or one longer run wednesday.

I'm going to run this half marathon trail race next weekend. http://thebarkcamprace.net/images/half_marathon_elevation.jpg

I will be going for my 3rd straight trail half marathon disqualification. Post your guess on which mile I'll miss a turn!!

Race one was at mile 8.

Race two was at mile 11
