Good luck at the Warrior Dash! And good luck to the other racers as well!

I assume that's a You Tube video for "The Power" by Snap. I used to love that song! For some reason, I can't see You Tube videos any more here on Kick. All I see is a big blank square. Did I change some setting on my Internet Explorer? Anybody have any ideas?

Anyhoo, I just did 11.9 miles. It was a really nice run on a cool cloudy morning.

Raining here.

Timed my run so I could finish, grab Jack, and walk a block over to cheer for a co-worker doing the Zoo sponsored 5k that goes through the back of my neighborhood. We stood out in the rain for 40 minutes waiting for her to pass. Did she? No.

3 out of 8 and shortening 3 runs in a row deserves some self redicule, even if Pansy isn't the right label

She flaked on a 5k Kath? WTF?

25k this morning was better than I hoped. Woke up at 6 AM to a steady rain with the forecast saying 70% chance of rain all day. At leas the temps were in the 50s. Rained up to the start of the 25k (they have a 5k, 10k, and the 25k and the 5k started at 7:00 AM - those poor bastards looked like drowned rats) and sprinkled intermittently for the first mile or so and then it was dry for the duration.

Official time and mini-race-report to come later but the garmin said 2:34:45.

Hi Gang -

Nice work on the 25k KP!!

I got 10.1 miles done at medium effort today, which ended up being about MP. 16 on the schedule for tomorrow. Crappy day here for fishing opener, but it's supposed to be nice tomorrow.

Howdy folks.

Bob - Nice job!

Amichel - No pansy title allowed!

Kath - You know you get to harass your friend for a LONG time on wussing out, when you stood out and waited on her, yes?

RIL - 10 and then 16? Wowza!

My warrior dash - I just posted a HUGE thing on facebook. I think it's open to everyone, so you can try to peek here:

http://www.facebook.com/note.php?created&&note_id=10150196435889940

The ankle is pissed. (I rolled it about halfway through and decided to walk the rest).

I had to deal with a water obstacle where, for a short period of time, I couldn't touch the ground or see when I'd be able to again. Enter panic-stricken dog paddling. Enough where I almost asked for help from other participants.

I also got rear-ended on the course. Yes. On the course. Short version: Think of an adult version of the slip-n-slide toy, starting at the top of a hill. I go down it, hit the bottom and stop moving. Before I can even think of standing up, another chick plows into me, (how come she hadn't slowed down, damnit?!) sending me another 7-10 feet ahead. Man I'm sore from that. Both from where she hit me square center at my back/hips (she was spread-eagle and hit me perfectly I think), but also one spot on my back is bothering me (mid and to the right) where she attempted to use a hand to absorb some of the contact.

Unfortunately, she ended up with a sprained, cracked or broken wrist from the episode. I feel bad for her of course, but wish she could have used a little common sense and waited just a few more seconds after I started to slide down before she did so, too. We'd both be feeling a lot better tonight. ><

Oofth. The ankle is still swollen. No LR for me today. Majorly bummed, as a cold front moved in and the HIGH today is only 70. It would be a beautiful morning to be out for a run. Hmph. However, it could be worse though, so I'll try to roll with it. The back is still sore from yesterday's crash, (who'd have thought the Warrior Dash would be a full contact sport?!) but it's more annoying than painful, so that's a good sign.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. Be safe out there!

Hi all - not much fitness here other than walking around seeing all sorts of the crazy statues that the town of Dublin has to offer.

WTG on your races kp and Ailarie - looking forward to hearing how our other racers do!

Wow Ailarie - sounds like a crazy race. Rest that ankle and I hope it heals quickly!

Did MN Peeps see that someone died at the finish line of the Lake Wobegon marathon yesterday? 35 year old man collapsed right after finish line and died - he had finished in just over 5 hours. They aren't saying much about cause of death. So sad!

I got 16 miles done, with last 4 at goal MP or a bit faster. Yipee!

Nice work Ailarie!

We did a mud run today too and I did the SAME thing to my poor son on the slip and slide thingy. I was FLYING down the hill and ran into him - we both went sliding another 5-10 feet in the grass. Ooops. :)

The GREAT news is that I was able to do the monkey bars without a problem. I am a bit worried about my (lack of) upper body strength for the Tough Mudder and I haven't done monkey bars since I was a kid. Today, they were super high (from standing on a hay bale I had to jump to reach them). But I got all the way across without feeling like I was going to fall. WOOOT!!!

Awful to hear someone died at the race RFTL. I wonder what happened. :(

Great job on your race, KP!

woot to ailarie and RIL for mud runs!

yay to kp for the better-than-expected 25k.

high five to the rest of you for your workouts/runs.

i ran the super hero half marathon today and macmillan put me at 1:55 off the 5 mile race but the humidity got to me near the end and i finished in 1:56ish - still waiting on official times b/c my garmin crapped out. i ran mostly by effort and am pleased with the results. it was a lovely run through residential streets and about 2.5 miles through a bike path but man! i forgot how hard/painful racing 1/2s can be.. or maybe it was just the humidity/rain. heh. there were some awesome costumes out there as well so it was entertaining but i don't envy the chaffage!

my word for this race was "relentless" b/c i wanted to be relentless with my effort, and in general, relentless in my pursuit of getting back to pre-baby shape. i was very emotional after crossing the finish line - being able to race and run is something i never want to take for granted as i have in the past. as i was schlepping the last 0.6 miles to the finish line (the longest 0.6 miles i have EVAH run!), i envisioned my sweet baby's face and smile and chanted her name silently to myself.

again, thank you for ALL of your support and encouragement. its taken a lot of work and i couldn't have done it without you!

Yay Missy! Great job getting back into the racing thing!

And great job at the Warrior Dash, Ailarie. Those races sure seem like fun (despite the chance of getting whopped in the back). I might have to try one some day.
