morning!

I was thinking about you all day yesterday (((Kath))), but couldn't get time to check in here or even deal with most emails. Hope you're doing ok.

Still trying to be patient and let the legs fully recover from the race, so I went to the pool yesterday and got a 1000yd swim done. Felt good. I may try for a few easy miles at the group run tonight since the soreness is gone now.

I did manage to finally get my race report done late last night. Since I couldn't do it all at once, the fun begins here and then I show off some badass socks, a smile and finish here. (Thanks for the socks link, RIL! Those are awesome!)

Good morning, ladies. The last couple days have made me think of the first couple pets I lost. I never had a pet as a kid because my dad was allergic. But I got a cat when I got out on my own. My first one got cancer and died at age 5. My second one had a liver problem and died at age 7. I've finally got one that seems to be perfectly healthy (knock on wood). She'll be 10 some time next month and is still going strong. Pets definitely become part of the family and it's very difficult when they're gone. Maybe we humans should only get turtles as pets, since they're about the only animals that can outlive us...

Anyway, I took the day off yesterday. I was tired, and I figured it's not a bad thing since I've got a marathon in just a few days. I'll do a short run tonight. I'm excited that I'll be on a plane to Salt Lake City in less than 48 hours from now...

Good morning!

Yesterday was the last day of reacting to my life and a little wallowing. Today I am acting and being positive. So, good breakfast. Got into work a little early to prep. Head up, all that...

morning all,

I slept like carp! bagged my early morning run. I'll meet up with my training partners later this afternoon.

Maria & Missy - I got my start corral assignment for NYCM. I'm in the 7th corral...Blue. 1st wave. Does that mean I'm on the top of the bridge?

Pets - don't want to be a downer, but my family only had one, a soft coated wheaton terrier named Baxter, and he was definately a member of our family. We got him when I was a Jr in high school, so I was gone from the house for most of his life. But my Dad never wanted a dog, and he was so attached to him that he couldn't even go to the vet when my mom took him to be put down. By that time I was married and living in my own house. My mom called me and I knew what she was going to say and I still cried like a baby. My parents travel a lot now in their retirement, and they say that's why they don't have another dog, but I think they don't want to go through that loss again. I Miss Baxter...he was the best.

Here's a pic of Baxter with my friend Brad.

morning peeps.

Bad night's sleep last night. I've realized if I have just a couple drinks...my sleep is affected, unless A stays over. I've been skipping the beers for the last week or so and I've definitely noticed a difference but last night I had a martini with dinner and I was up from 3:30 til almost 5 again. So...I think I'll be skipping the drinks most of the time.

I've been making a concerted effort this week, have been bringing my breakfast and lunch to work, lunch is a big salad. If nothing else, it makes me feel good about myself.

I woke up at 4:20 this morning and boy oh boy did all of me protest. I am wicked, wicked tired. BUT, I got out there and ran 11 miles with 6 x 1000 m @ 5K pace. Woot - and I NAILED them! Yayayayayayay! I wanted to be between 4:07 and 4:17 for each (per McMillan) and I hit 4:19, 4:13, 4:14, 4:15, 4:11 and 4:11. Booyah!

Morning all

The Brewers game was fun last night even though we had to leave early and listen to the best part on the radio. I think I prefer to listen to Ucker announce on the radio than sit in the game with no fan interaction. But it was fun

MOE I've pretty much quit drinking for that same reason. It doesn't matter if it's beer, wine or a mixed drink. I usually only had one but would always feel like crap and sleep like crap. It's not worth it, in my opinion.

I hope everyone has a great day today.

Greetings everyone, and a big ol ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( 30's ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) group hug..

I stayed home yesterday and continue to do so today. Sun & Mon nights I've been dealing with major insomnia, and I think that + my level of training + stress at work finally took a toll on the body. Last night I took an ambien and got 6 hours of (almost) uninterrupted sleep. Wow. I'd forgotten what that was like.

I'm sure I'll still need a cat nap at some point in the day, but I am feeling immensely better already. Hope to get a 3-5 M run on the treadmill this evening, in fact.

Morning gang...

I just wanted to drop in and give a big (((((((((((( 30's )))))))))))) squeeze to everyone who needs it (and even those who don't, but would just enjoy it ).

Theia, such good news about your dad and his caregiver situation...that has to be a huge weight off your shoulders.

(((Kath))) For Jack.

In the interest of putting some good thoughts out there today: I drove down to Charleston yesterday to get my hair cut, (it made me think of you, Kath! ), and I got to spend some time catching up with a good friend of mine, which was much needed. I'm vowing to spend a bit more time here from now on, because I feel like I've been a bad 30's by not hanging out here as much lately.

And here's a , just because it always makes me feel better.

I have to get ready to head to campus...busy day ahead for me, with much reading to do.

it's taking a long time for someone to wake up :)

8 hrs would be awesome. I normally get about 7 on a good day(night). sundays I get a nap in but that doesn't always make up for it.

i renew my call for a coma button to be installed on me - hit it and i'd be out in a nice deep sleep for x number of hours. if i could figure that out, man I would be so rich.

FYI: I think if you would put salted caramel on a sweaty sock..I would probably eat it. :)

Hi folks. Went to work, ran, showered, and now back home!! DW left the grill on overnight, so we are out of propane. We use propane for hot water, stove, oven, dryer, etc., in addition to the grill. So I am working here waiting for the tank to get filled, and then to re-light the pilot lights.

Hey folks.

Sickness is taking over, bound to happen the first week kids go to school, right? Except it isn't them, it's me!! Ugh! Finishing up some stuff at work and then heading home to nap. Oh but in what I am sure is a coincidence, Colin has a bit of a rash, looks like a heat rash, nothing horrible and it isn't bothering him. But then I got a text from my neighbor that we spent all of Sat with, she is in the hospital, they think she might have MRSA (in her hand) and she is having surgery today. So of course I called the ped, they still think it is just a coincidence but have to keep a close eye on Colin. He has a dermatologist appt next week anyway so if the rash is still there they can peek at it.

In much better, funnier news, had a really fun dream last night...Wippy got married on a farm and we were all there hanging out with the cows and horses. It was one of those dreams that you wake up smiling from :)

T I have to go read that link, sounds like the perfect thing for us all today!!

Oh and SOlar I have yet to properly congratulate you!! Drinks to celebrate?!

Ok, definitely more awake now. Sorry if my 8 hours comment was insensitive; I just really love and need sleep. I wish there was a job where I could get paid to sleep. That would be perfect.

More good news on the job front: The chair of the department of the school where my colleague's friend is is also interested in having me apply. Of course, that really doesn't mean anything, but it's still nice, cheery news.
