Georgia Tech has to forfeit the last 3 games of the 2009 season including the ACC Championship game and return the trophy. Additionally they are on probation for 4 years and must pay a $100,000 fine. This is because two players received approximately $300.00 or so in clothes from a sports agent. The NCAA claims that Georgia Tech Athletic Officials were not forthcoming during the investigation. GT may appeal but I'm guessing they will just move on.

At least we didn't have to forfeit the 2008 victory over UGAy.

Apparently what really got GT into hot water with this one was the NCAA Investigator believes the AD and Coach Johnson coached at least one of the players what to say. They also played the two players knowing there might be an investigation making them ineligible rather than disqualifying them for the last three games.

GT might indeed have brought this one on theirself.

Yes, I'm afraid after Jim Tressel that anyone who appears to not be forthcoming is going to pay the price. Auburn was very careful with Cam Newton and made sure the NCAA said he was eligible when things were heating up last year. Of course in 2016 when they find out he's taken a pay cut to go to the NFL they might change the results. I don't cheer for touchdwns for at least 10 years after they happen in case they get forfeited. :)

I watched the documentary on the SMU "death Penalty" by the NCAA. They never really recovered.
