Officially, Thursday. Off until Jan. 3.

Christmas Eve service, they aren't havnig services on the Sunday after. We're going to a Nawlins-style Christmas breakfast at friends' Christmas morning. I know - New Orleans stuff in Maine? Yes siree Bob.

Aside from that, I don't think anything's planned. Our son came here from Colorado at Thanksgiving, which is around the time of his berfday, so that was a bigger deal for us

Interesting article Mindi. I'm glad he's doing well.

QOD I have off on Friday and Monday, usually we do Christmas Eve at my parents but we did Christmas with my family last weekend so now nothing is going on Christmas Eve. I have to go over to Craigs parents on Christmas day for lunch at 11 and then when they head off to their big family function I'm heading over to my Granny's to see my extended family and then I think Craig and I are meeting back at his house to do our own Christmas.

I'm totally Christmas'ed out right now and it hasn't even started.

New Years I'm making dinner at Craigs and then we are going bowling with some of his cousins and on the 1st heading over to a neighbors to watch the Badgers take on the TC Who Horney Toads.

Greetings, all.

QoD: I'm off on Fri the 24th, but am back to work on Monday. Then we're technically closed on the 31st, but I have to go in for some year-end stuff.

Things will obviously be a little different for me this year, but it's low-key, which I like. Christmas Eve & Christmas day, plans are to start with a 10 mile run. (That may or may not happen on day 2, but that's the goal). On the 24th, I'm run around for a few errands after the run. The afternoon of the 25th, I'll head over to visit with my Dad & stepmom. Low-key there, too. The 26th, I may or may not run that morning, and will have lunch with my mom & step-dad. (hopefully finding a good game on TV!) None of us do the gift giving thing, so we're all pretty flexible about times to hang out, etc.

Nawlins style breakfast sounds awesome!

Wippy - a nice quiet Christmas with Craig sounds great too.

Busy busy few days for me. I am going to my friend's dad's funeral tonight. Tomorrow night we are having a Christmas dinner with my cousin (who is also our child care provider) and her boyfriend. Christmas Eve we'll go to my sister's place, then Christmas day we host my folks. Unfortunately I don't get to take any work off until the 30th - although I'll probably just work a half day on Christmas Eve,

30th, DH, DS#2 and I head to Hot 'Lanta for the Chick Fil-A Bowl on the 31st. Woot! Go Noles!! DH and I haven't been to a game in years.

So I've been an avid reader of the New York Times Vows section for many years. It was the first thing I would do on Mondays when I would come into work. Now that I can get it on my phone on Sunday it's even better but this weeks vows submition had me floored. I can't ever remember a Vows column having a comment section. Two words.... Train...Wreck

QOD: This is my last day of work this week. Tomorrow is errands with the girls of the family and dinner at Grandpas. Friday is breakfast for my aunt's birthday, then driving to DH's family Christmas and dinner. Back home for midnight mass. Sleep (more like nap), then breakfast and Christmas with my family in the morning. Santa comes to my grandpa's house. We stay most of the day there playing games and MIL joins us there by dinner time. Sunday is a morning run with J, then a MIL will spend the day with us and we'll have a belated Christmas dinner with my BFF and her family. Monday is back to work for two days, then we leave for New Orleans to meet up with more friends (and hopefully Tiff). We'll get back Tuesday for DD to go back to school Wed. It's chaos...but we've done something similar nearly every year, so I sort of have a routine for it. All shopping and wrapping is done already and someone else does the grocery shopping. I just have to show up and help cook and keep kids out of the way :)

QOD: I've been off since Monday afternoon. I have to go into work on Thursday morning for a 1:30 meeting. Remind me next year to go somewhere where I can't come back from until my vacation is over. I go back on the 4th otherwise. I was going to head out to Montreal today to visit my mom and dad but it didn't pan out. I will try for the 27th. Nothing going on on the 24th. I think I will go to midnight mass. The boys are with their dad this christmas so I will be joining them on the 25th. Then the boys come back to me on boxing day and we have the whole week together to go sledding, skating and movieing. Stuff like that.

Wippy: interesting article. I'm on the fence and I can see both sides. I will say that I think it's disrespectful to the ex spouses to have that written up in the NYT. Not very discreet.

Wow, a year already?! Yeesh. Well, Happy Birthday, Evelyn!

QOD: I'm off work Friday and back in on Monday. Same deal for New Years weekend.

We'll have the family over to our house for Chritsmas: My parents, my wife's parents, my wife's sister and her husband and daughter, plus my wife's sister's husaband's brother and mother. And my sister-in-law's mother-in-law might bring her boyfriend. If so, that would make 13 people. Isn't 13 people for dinner supposed to be unlucky? Like, one person will die? I guess we'll find out...

Welcome Gretriever! Someone get the questionaire.

2nd interview is today at 2. Cross your fingers.

QOD: We do mass (super long because it's the family service, and you ahve to arrive nearly 2 hours early to get a seat) and then dinner with Dh's family on Christmas Eve. His aunt that I've been avoiding is hosting. Hopefully with it being a holiday she won't ride me too much. At least I do have something to report now. Christmas day we'll leave around noon for Sisterleenie's house in Cleveland. Hang out, do gifts & dinner, and head back at some point in the evening.

Well...I actually have tentative good news: my mom might be going home for Christmas!!!!!!

the docs pulled her off all the drugs they could and the issues she's having with her mood swings and paranoia, which are caused by the brain lesions, have lessened to the point where they think she's probably ok to be home. The only thing is, if they do the radiation tomw, she might be in the hospital over the weekend; if they do it next week, she'll go home for Christmas, barring any other episodes.

This might be the best Christmas present ever.

I don't know how my holidays will pan out now. I'm working tomw then I have Fri and probably Mon off. Technically the University is closed next week, but we, in Development research, have to work some days next week (which frankly sucks.monkey.balls) but I'm not sure when I'm coming in. Probably Tues and Wed. I'll still spend Christmas Eve night and Christmas day with my sister and her kids. I'm now hoping to go to a friend's Christmas Eve open house during the day on Fri. NYE, we're going to our regular karaoke place for their New Year's party. It's downtown, so I rented car service (a van) to pick us up at 2am, so none of us have to deal with the T, or driving home. Ended up being $25/pp or so...which seemed totally reasonable since the party has no cover charge.

Went to see some live music last night with The Guy. Things seem to be smoothing over for him, and I'm still keeping it casual...and it's just nice right now. This also makes me happy.

Happy birthday Evelyn!!!!

GOOD LUCK KATH!!!!!

Hi all. Grayson is still in ICU and having a few minor issues so he likely won't be out of the ICU today. I guess that answers the QOD....Christmas will start when we are out of the hospital. I've found somewhere nice in Beverly Hills for us to have Christmas dinner, if it comes to that.

I posted this late yesterday, but I did see Arnold the Governator yesterday. He looked shorter than I imagined.

Happy birthday Evelyn!!! Time does fly. Anyone heard from Lori? I hope little Colin are doing well.

KJ - glad the issues are minor. Hope you're all home soon! I just sent Lori a text to check in. I would guess they will go home today, but I didn't talk to her yesterday.

Moe - hope Momma Moe is home for Christmas too.

Good luck, Kath!

Niece's scarf is drying upstairs. This is the one that took for freaking ever, just because the middle section (ribbing) was BORING. Anyway. See how the cables look like owls? The button eyes are too large & kind of google-y, but I'm not replacing them.

Kath - I think the buttons are perfect, seriously! They draw attention, so you look closer and then see the owl shape. If they were smaller, they might go unnoticed.
