Where is everyone??? I thought I'd be late to the game here, but I can't find a daily thread anywhere!

‎7.25 pre-dawn miles on the treadmill, watching the 1st episode of Nip/Tuck. My brother-in-law, Vlad, encouraged me to watch this show, so I set it up on my streaming Netflix. And I loved it! The miles just flew by. After sunrise, I took it outdoors: 7.39 foggy, foggy miles. All told, 14.64 miles in 2:12:37 (9:03 min/mile pace)

Nice run for the day, Robin! I've never seen that show.

I'll vote for the inventory, too, tw. Always good to see you running.

I'll run later, still figuring out my day. It's my last day off before going back to work so I'm almost in panic mode. It's really warm out today too (40°) which will make things a slippery, icy mess. I like temps in the teens and 20's, but this is too much for us. Still, I'll make it out with my screw shoes and hope the traffic is somewhat light on the main road. I'll take the tree down today, too. That's early for us, but I'm feeling the need to get the house put back in some semblance of order...

Nice combo run, Robin! And glad to see tw running too!

Hangovers? Yes, my legs have marathon hangover. Ouch. My right hip that didn't bother me at all during the run decided to make sure I could not sleep on my right side. Even though we have a thick memory foam mattress topper. Hip is a princess hip, apparently. I thought I'd sleep well, but it's more painful to stay in one position than to move. Makes for a tossing and turning night, even after naproxen and acetaminophen.

But - it's a beautiful day here in Houston - blue skies, dry, 55F for a high. Went to church, which was surprisingly packed today, ate chorizo con huevos for lunch at one of our fave Mexican restaurants, now watching NFL and realizing that I even overworked the upper traps yesterday - probably carrying my arms too high at times. Or maybe that's just what happens when one is swinging arms for over 5 hours.

I have the next 2 days off while my kids are out of school. Will take DS1 for another try at scheduling his driving test first thing tomorrow.

Would make jokes about DS1 and driving, but I actually feel better with him behind the wheel than I do with some of the drivers in my vanpool.

errr, morally against nip/tuck. though the funniest pre-movie commercial yesterday was a local plastic surgeon encouraging people to "satisfy their body's inner desire". oy. and to top it off, "tron 3d" was a snoozer of a flick...

...although "the black swan" was awesome, smart and disturbing... two thumbs way up!

Good afternoon, all.

Glad you're feeling better mc.

Laura, rest those legs and recover smart!

Robin, you and I are almost mileage buddies today, though I ran about a full minute slower: 14.6 miles in 2:23:55 (9:51 avg pace). Haven't done a long run like that in several weeks now, so I figured it was time. Plus, I was about 14 miles short of 40 for the week, so the numbers demon beckoned....

Fingers are getting numb, so I better hit the shower. Laterz!

Hi Robin, TW, Erika, MC, Laura, and OM!!

Esther... I saw your 5K pictures on FB yesterday. Was that a Buff you're wearing? If so, I think I have the same one!

TW, I'm thinking inventory as well.

10 miles of semi-icy trails with my training partner today. We hit a record high of +12°C yesterday and it rained hard until mid afternoon, washing away most of the snow. Overnight the temps plunged to -4°C, and I was thinking that the trail would be pretty much clear. Partner forgot his YakTraks and I figured we wouldn't need them, but it turned out there was a bit more ice on the trails than I'd bargained for. I only slipped a bit a couple of times, but Joe fell twice, with one taking some skin off his palm. Am feeling a bit guilty downplaying the conditions on him, but he should know better than to listen to me by now. Time to turn one pair of the trailies into screw shoes, I think.

Back to work tomorrow..........blech!

Robin, I love your avatar/picture. What's the story behind that? You look so shocked!

WTG, tw. And avoid inventory on running days.

Nice LR's BTW, Robin and OM. Great day for it.

I did my usual Sunday morning 5 mile recovery run. Nice and EZ, 8:53 pace. I love Sunday runs the best. Quiet, no cars. Serene. We're having unusually warm weather right now. Low 40's, and lots of fog rising from the snow. Ran in shorts and a l/s shirt and cap.

It was taken at the Santa Speedo Run a month ago. It was among the gazillion pictures snapped that afternoon, and I laughed and laughed when I saw it because I have absolutely no recollection of what was so surprising. There was a bit of post-run tippling going on...

Ditto Opie....both the nippling and the Christmas lights. My knee hurt less going up and down the ladder this time than it did when I put them up after Thanksgiving. That was encouraging.

Good evening to all the long runners!!

After an outside run friday and a day off, my mountain muscles were fairly rested so I started off at 12.5% inlcine at 12:00 pace. At 6 minutes I increased the pace to 11:45. I then started increasing the elevation at 15 minutes to 13% and another .5% each 10 minutes until I raised it to 15% at 52:30. Ended up with 5.08 miles in 60 minutes and 3,633 ft elevation gain. My avg elevation was 13.5% and pace was 11:48. Heartrate every 10 minutes was 141,142,147,153,157,163 so I was at race effort the last 10 miutes or so.

Finished my 3 in 3 today. I felt better and ran stronger than I did in the first two. It was an urban marathon so traffic lights turned out to be a big hassle, but people watching was fun. 3 miles from the finish, we watched (and tried our hardest to look away) a young man attempt to jump from the Aurora Bridge. As soon as we passed under the bridge we ran extra hard so we wouldn't hear the splash if he actually jumped. Kinda of ruined a perfect day. I have no idea how the drama ended since Seattle media will not report suicides from that bridge and they are far too frequent.

Dove, you really are amazing. You're my (S)hero, for sure.

I ended up running a really good 12.3 miles today, giving me 40.9 for the week... my first 40 mile week since before Tecomseh. Had a good run today, just under 8:30 average pace with quite a bit of hillage. Got some things thought through, but not many answers. This has been a great break, and I really (really) don't want to go back to work, but have some things to work through in my head and my heart. Nobody said life would be easy, right?
