Well, KP already posted his experiences, but I ran the race too, and these are mine...

I haven't been running all that long. I tried running for a couple of years before I really started running. I have been consistant in my training only for the last year to year and a half. Finally taking it seriously has made a big difference in my times over the last year and this race was no different.

I had a sort-of secret goal, beat my last 5K race time of 34:00. (Yup, I'm slow). Mostly I wanted to feel good with this race, enjoy it, and come away happy. Well I got both goals - and a new PR - 32:11!!!

The start was slightly delayed and I started to get a bit cold. 32 degrees at the start. I wasn't feeling particularly happy and optimistic about my time goal because I accidently left my forerunner at home. I have never paced myself without some sort of timing device... I didn't even have my watch on!

The air horn sounded and we were off. The first mile felt pretty good, pushing hard, but the asthma is under control, and I can do this pace.

The second I started looking around for a distraction from myself... ok, time to start reeling in other women. Perky girl... You Are Mine (and on a up hill too!) Foot Slap woman... I am getting away from you.

The third mile was slightly down hill for some of it and my goal became to stay with a woman who had been consistantly ahead of my for the last mile or so... I'll call her Streaky (white streak in dark hair). Streaky was steady until the last .25 mile. Then she faded. I was really excited to feel that I wasn't fading. Good, I have some for a kick at the end! When I kicked I saw the clock... 32:something!!! No Way!

So no puking, and new PR. Sounds like a great race to me.
