It sounds as if many of us took a flier at IRC last night and just missed each other. I conclude that things will go better if we agree that we'd like to chat. Or not. So, at the risk of attempting to herd cats, I would like to suggest that there be a Plonk Party this evening.

I will attempt to drop in at about 9:00 PST, pending the outcome of my international debut as the Innkeeper's Cranky Wife. Just in case I am delayed by hordes of fans (or indignant children), however, I want to ensure that everyone has a nonstop supply of plonk to hold 'em over:

http://www.mensup.fr/usbwine/

9PST is very late for us right coasters
I may drop in around 9 EST though, if I am not sleeping in my recliner

Susan, with any IRC client (MIRC is good for windoz)
/server oncomputers.info:7000
when it connects
/join #coolrunning

if you want to double check if you found the right place
/join #icug
you should see about 8 or 10 names, they likely won't answer if you speak though

Susan (and you, too, Pro):

There are two different types of chat that are used by this group.

The first, and the one I'm suggesting for this evening, was established by our friend Hally before my time and runs on an internet protocol called IRC (Internet Relay Chat, not Ideal Running Conditions). This is known as IRC chat, or sometimes, "mIRC chat", because one common Windows IRC client is called mIRC.

To use IRC, you need to put a client on your machine. Many download mIRC, I use the ChatZilla extension for Firefox.

Follow these instructions but instead of using#Oncomputers use #coolrunning as the room. http://www.ajcyberguide.com/mirc/

You can also get to the server this way from the status window

/server chat.oncomputers.info:7000 then hit enter

then when it connects /join #coolrunning and hit enter.

The second was set up by me on a lark at the Coolrunning Boomers Wiki. If you launch http://coolrunningboomers.pbwiki.com/Chat, you will find the instructions above at the top, and then, if you scroll down, you will see a little chat window. Some folks who have never had much luck with IRC chat really like this widget, and although I sometimes regret having potentially split the chat crowd with a new tool, I won't take it away from them. Some firewalls get a little snarky about the widget.

I'll try to keep a window on the Wiki chat open so that if anyone is having trouble getting IRC going, I can coach you on the wiki side.

I'd like to get bungfu on plonk with the rest of you but I've got a party at the boss' house and some serious Christmas shopping to do. Remember to know when to say when!

Cool, plug 'n play, and you don't have to install a designated driver. I'll try to check in, more like Hally's time or a bit after. Sally's time is tooooo late.

Red, please.

I'm reserving the bronze faucet for the vegan chi-chi's (why "vegan," dunno. Don't think coconut milk comes from a cow). We need a little tropicality in the festivities. And Vitamin C.

Is there a bigger nozzle for cookies? I really cannot eat them all.

I've got a fair bit of work on the schedule (all weekend ... blick), but can dance with Finn on the speakers here and there.
