I use an Otterbox Defender because I'm completely paranoid about dropping the thing and cracking the screen. It has its pros and cons.

Pros:

You ain't breaking your iPhone with this thing hugging it.

Cons:

The business end of my car adapter won't fit inside the shell opening so I have to remove the case to charge the phone on the road, which isn't required very often.

The volume of the ringer is diminished quite a bit so I always have it on vibrate as well.

The plastic screen cover makes weird patterns on the screen where they make contact. You get used to it.

Other than that, no complaints. It has a solid rugged, utilitarian look. I blew out my belt holster on the arm of an office chair and the company replaced it at no charge. (They had offered to replace everyone's holster because, I assume, of some defect.)

Let me know if I can answer any more questions about it.

this is the one I have...http://www.amazon.com/iFrogz-Luxe-Case-iPhone-Black/dp/B001EZMGE8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1279312344&sr=8-4

I haven't dropped it yet (knock on wood!) but I'm not sure how much protection this case would actually provide, but it seems sturdy enough.

I have the ifrogz, and I have dropped mine a billion times. It has saved mine completely.

I have to say, I love how there is one problem EVER with the iphone and people are all thrilled to trash on apple. ::inserteyerollingsmileyhere::

Never used a case on the 3G, don't use one on the 4. No problems at all yet. I dropped and tossed around the 3G a lot. I find I'm a little more careful with the 4, but that'll wear off.

Funny how folks who go on and on about problems with iPhones tend to, like, not have one. There's a lot I don't like about Apple, but they've put out a pretty solid product line with the iPhone.

I've had two iphones, the original, and the 3Gs (or whatever the one before the 4 is). They both survived multiple drops on concrete, lots of water, and general tossing around. Seriously, I'm so impressed with how durable they are. I have a shuffle as well (the second model) that has held up extremely well, too. So when I was in the market for a laptop, I took a big ol' gulp of the Apple koolaid and got a mac. I love it.

But back to the cases, the ifrogz is really good. I've dropped mine so many times that the case is finally cracked. But my phone is A-ok. I'll probably get the new iPhone this winter when I'm due for an upgrade. But I love the new OS on it.
