Introducing the new Commish/Moderator

Please welcome Billy as the next Commissioner & Moderator of the VRAA! Billy agreed to a short-term contract to lead the game for the next round or two. 
This is an exciting time. With participation and enthusiasm at an all time high, an evolving scoring system, and a new leader, the VRAA is in fine shape to forge ahead. 
As much as I love this place, the time is now for me to hand over the keys to the place. I am ready for a break. Plus next time, I intend to be a better badass and earn all the points I signed up for! 
I thank each and every one of you for making the VRAA what it has become -- A fun and motivating game for one and all. 
I have no doubt the game will continue to grow and prosper under Billy. I hope to witness continued support and volunteerism in the rounds ahead.

As I said to Roots, I feel like Sam Malone has given me the keys to Cheers. It's a special place but it's the people that make it special. I take the responsibility to keep a good thing going very seriously. 
Thank you Roots! Enjoy being a commissioner emeritus. 
So, the first thing I'm going to do as the new commish is to give myself the day off. 
Not really. 
I do think there is a certain show biz aspect to the VRAA - "always leave them wanting more." I need to recover to be ready for the next round physically and I am not the only one according to my teammates this round. 
So rest up and get ready. I haven't figured out an exact date for the next round, but we should be underway at some point during the first full week of March. I will post a sign up list towards the end of February.

Allow me to give my heartfelt thanks to: ROOTS, HAIRY TROTTER and now BILLY! You guys have brought VRAA to a level I never imagined when I and jrjo first created it over 6 years ago! (the first one was Sept 2001) Oh, and here's some trivia...WHO was the captain of the FIRST Winning VRAA TEAM? (this person is STILL around and active on kickrunners.com) Anyway - VRAA has truly become a Kickruners.com Signature event. And it's because of the hard work of your leaders!. You guys need ANYTHING at all, do NOT hesitate to ask! 
Have a great VRAA 7 and note the current winners are now enshrined on our VRAA WALL OF FAME on the front page!

I really, really enjoyed your race blogs. I really, really, really hope you'll be available again for the next round. 
There's a couple legs to the stool of the VRAA. One is competition and scoring. Another is having a team and making friends. What keeps them together (fractured metaphor I know) is the story of the race, the verisimilitude of having the race route and some descriptive text. All of these elements make it an adventure. 
So thank you for your talent and work. You keep it real for all of us.

There are not enough words of praise for Hairy's Database, or Trotter's Tool as I like to call it. The more successful the VRAA becomes, the larger the information management challenge becomes. Automating scoring makes it easier to have fun playing the game rather than a chore for everyone.

Roots thanks for all you have done! VRAA #6 was my first race. 
Looking forward to #7. Probably won't be around for 8 or 9 but will return in the fall.
