Q. What is this intrepid business about?
A. Many of us travel the globe in search of racing fame, fortune, glory, and the ultimate in post race spread. We need others to know about it.

Q. Seriously, what is this thread for?
A. It's just a simple list of our upcoming events. It allows us to better follow the racing endeavors of our kickrunner friends. We know when to wish them good luck, and when to look for their followup race reports. It also gives us the opportunity to meet up with fellow kicksters.

Q. How do I get my races listed?
A. Just post at the end of the thread that you wish to be included and list your races. It's that simple.

Q. Is the listing just for Masters runners?
A. Of course not. We're a friendly and inclusive group here in the masters forum.

Q. Some of the races listed look very tough. I only run short neighborhood races with my dog Sluggo. Can I still list my events?
A. Certainly. No race is too big or too small. You can list the NYC Marathon or your family held obstacle race in the backyard. It's your call. We just like to keep up with our friends.

Q. Why do some people not include the location of their event in the listing?
A. There are several possible reasons. It might be to preclude scenarios such as having strange people approach them and begin flashing the secret kickrunner hand signals. A few don't want spouses, ex-spouses, significant others, parole officers, etc. to know where they will be. Some are avoiding service of process. And, sadly, some of our racers are just not that bright. They really don't know where the race is. A few of the high and mighty types like to think their race is so well known that the location is obvious. For example, nobody ever lists the state when they post "please add me to the Boston Marathon." Well, hoity toity to them.
cracking up at your quotes Pie . . . . I must have had a senior moment because I don't remember that quote . . . or maybe you are a mind reader. Are you in my brain?

and if so, do you hear the echo? or is that just me?

Snork, pie! That quote is making me feel kinda warm and Mae Westy all over, and I certainly do enjoy being the AntiParis.

Oh, this is Intrepid, and I haven't one race listed. Might as well go for the gusto even though, at this time, it's kind of a half-calfed notion ...

I see Ilene is running the Carlsbad Half Marathon on 2/10, I don't know if the date is transposed, or she intends to run different half on that date. Hopefully, she's just transposed the date, as a trip to So Cali is not complete without a visit with Ilene.

Finally,
The Dates have been announced. <adrenaline surge>

02/16/08 JJ Jessee Holiday Lake 50K Appomatox, Va

03/29/08 JJ Jessee Terrapin Mountain Half Marathon ???, Va

04/26/08 JJ Jessee Promise Land 50K Bedford, Va

11/01/08 JJ Jessee Mountian Masochist 50M Lynchburg, Va

I'm gonna train for all these, but reality will be the final judge at the starting line.

<thinking out loud>
I may drop the Va Creeper on 3/30/ ,but I knew it was just gonna be a training run for Promise Land anyway
so I'll run both easy maybe. Terrapin is thinking about a full as well, and I could do that and nix the Creeper outright.
ummm.
sedisions, sedisions. and me with a snaggle toed foot.
<not thinking out loud>

Yowsa!!!! I just got back from the "running room" wing of my office, so I could find a sweat stained cap to take off in your honor . My thought is to do both the Terrapin half & the Creeper full, you're going to have to do a few back to back LR's anyways, just do 'em real slow. Is it a doable drive from one to the other in an afternoon??

I looked at the Mountain Masochist web page, that's a serious run man , 9000' gain & 7000' loss, AND no dogs allowed...
