Forgive me for the cross post in CHRunners, but I figured I'd share with those who don't visit over there...

Coming back from lunch, I spied a $20 bill lying on the floor as I entered the building. I picked it up and the guy behind me says, "Nice find!" I then left it at the security after I told them I found it on the floor.

I figured someone heading out for lunch probably dropped it and might come looking for it when he went to pay for lunch. My coworkers told me I should've just pocketed it because the security guard is just going to take it now.

What would you have done?

I I think you did the right thing... I might have told the guard that I found some money, and if anyone came looking for it, ask to have then contact you.

At school it's easy - we just give to the admin. assistant who is the repository of all Lost & Found of any Value. Everyone knows to ask her.

I think it admirable that especially in these finacially tight days, that you were thoughtful of someone ele's loss!

A DOuble ATTA BOY for you!

I would have turned it in. I found $10 bucks in an elevator once and turned it it. Later, the woman I handed it in to told me that someone came in just moments later flustered and desperate, because they lost the $10 they needed to pay for one of their court fees.

I would turn it in at work. I wouldn't turn it in at the mall. If I worked at a mall I'd be perplexed.

I found a $10 bill in the crosswalk the other day on my way back from lunch. I kept it. : )

But if I found money at work, I'd likely send out an email saying it was found and if anyone lost it to come see me.
