Wow!

So, I rediscovered the wee hours of the morning.

Our local riding group (social, not coached) was attempting to have a "break the record" ride today in honor of the last stage of "Le Tour." We had 80-ish riders show! There were 4 options for riders to take, short, medium, medium-long, and loooooooong. In order to be able to do the ride, I had to finish my run first....the ride was the TREAT of the day.

So, I managed to have my running shoes on the streets by 4:15 am!

It wasn't any much cooler at that time of morning than when the sun's out, except I didn't have to wear sunscreen. By mile 3, my clothes were soaked. At mile 7 my steps started sounding like: Left, squish, Left, squish, etc. GAK!

But, 11 miles, in the books.

I'm happy to report that while the last 2 miles weren't all that fun, the first 3 or 4 were easy, and the middle ones were steady. The "morning of misery" that I've been experiencing recently didn't happen today.

THEN, I rushed around trying to find my sunglasses and helmet so that I could book to the HS meeting point for the group ride. MADE IT!! Whew!

I took the leisurely short ride with the promise of a good breakfast, and ended up meeing another woman who's done IMs before. She recently had a baby and today was her frist ride in almost a year. Yay! Maybe she and I can get together for some ride/runs in the coming months. Shes says she's a slow runner too! Yayayayay.

Tithers, she was at IMLP the same year you were.......and LOVED LOVED the rain! NOT.

18 miles on the bike for me.

run--9miles. Walked in the last 2.25 cuz it was stupid hot and humid.

Idiot moment (besides being out there with the heat advisory)--I'm test wearing Brooks Adrenalines. I was most disappointed with the shoes this morning. Only a week's worth of running and they felt "dead" and needing replaced. When I got home I realized why. I got dressed in the dark and accidentally grabbed a pair of (very) retired Adrenalines.

I feel better now! I at least rode my bike outside a few times ;)

OK...so remember on the miles dedication thread Adam told me to "take care of the poop."

Someone mysteriously took a shit in the neighborhood pool for me to find. Mr. Tithers fished it out with a broom b/c the azzhat destroyed the net.

I didn't discover the poop until AFTER I pulled furniture out of the pool.

Adam...does this mean my miles are DONE for the weekend?

Stitch, that's the best time of day to hit the streets for a run!!

2 mile OW swim race for me. Went as well as I could hope for; ended up 3rd AG with a time of 52:28 (I think). These events draw some wicked fast swimmers! Makes me wish I took swimming more seriously when I was young....

My planned 22 mile ride yesterday turned into 12 because I picked up a nail in my rear tire, a nice cyclist stopped to help me change it, and the new tube immediately went "whoosh!". We flagged down a car and I got a ride back to my starting point where there was a bike shop. They found a tiny piece of metal and put in another tube. After that fiasco I only had time for 12 miles. Adco - I've taken care of any flat tire issues for you.

Stitcher - good for you getting out there so early this am!

Tithers - what is up in your neighborhood?

Took care of the clumsy trip resulting in a cut on my little toe for you. I bled for the cause! Chased it with about 2 glasses of wine. I'll do something SBR related tomorrow. I promise!

Yuck on pooping in the pool and smashing a foot. Also yuck on drinking 20 beers in one day! I didn't do a whole lot in the way of swim/bike/run for you Adam, but I did travel all day with a one month old so I feel about as exhausted as I did after IMLP last year. So sending you the ability to get er done through the fatigue. Looking forward to tracking you today!!

About 12 miles running this morning - was supposed to do about 16, but the heat and humidity just killed my stomach, legs, and even my toes started cramping!! Add to that a run-in with the park ranger (I need to learn to shut my mouth sometimes...), I called it a day - in my mind there is no reason to continue a run that's just making me super cranky.

Hoping Adam has a much better day than me!!
